blah blah "They don't mean shit" "Power Rankings don't matter" ...whatever, they're still entertaining to look at. CBS Sports had the Jets at #20 and Chargers at #4 entering last week. This week the Jets are still at #20. How is that possible?
Its like the fucking ravens discussions...yeah they are superbowl bound...then after they lose its just a blip... we lose and we are on our way to 4-12. We win and it meh... The press in general hate the Jets...fuck em! When the jets lose its a meltdown across ESPN with cunts like Skip bayliss and Chris Carter jumping on the bandwagon Ohhh and whilst I am ranting can ESPN stop talking about fucking Tebow!!
Pete Prisco doesn't like the Jets and doesn't know much about professional football or the NFL. On the other hand I'm not sure I'd put the Jets above 16 or so myself right now. I think they have some holes and their depth is slim.
I'm sure this thread is going to get crap. Anyways, most of the press hates the Jets. I've followed power rankings for a while and the only guy's power rankings that is decent is James Walker of ESPN, now covers the AFC East. My opinion, the Jets should be around 11 or 12. With the man to man blocking scheme in place, I think we'll begin to dominate the league in running, which will help cut back turnovers and rest our D. We'll see in Buffalo...
On a serious note we are a 10-13 team at this point but our ceiling is so much higher IF we clean up the mistakes
The Skins and Bucs ahead of the Jets is a joke. How much value can you put in a rating that has the Bills higher than the Saints? Laughable. Jets shouldbe no lower than 14 and trending up.
Also has the Bengals way ahead of the Jets. What a joke They beat the Browns, Colts, Jaguars, and Bills (with a loss to the Broncos and 49ers) LOOK OUT NFL!!
Since we're on the topic of meaningless rankings, here's Colin Cowherd's "Herd Hierarchy" as of today. (*note* this is based on teams' most recent play, and even more-so, projection) 1. Packers 2. Patriots 3. Saints 4. Steelers 5. Cowboys 6. Giants 7. Jets 8. 49ers 9. Ravens 10. Falcons He likes our record at Home and that we're a cold-weather team which is important from this point onward. He also likes the D and the Rushing attack getting back on track. link to podcast excerpt (5 minutes): http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=7147763 in case that doesn't work, link to archive: http://espnradio.espn.go.com/espnradio/clipArchive?showID=theherd
lol giants ranked ahead of us. They struggled vs the Rams, Cards, Seahawks, Bills, skins, and only beat the eagles because of vicks injury. And the Rams/Cards games were won by the refs. I still think they have little chance at the playoffs, and that division is completely pathetic
Yeah, I don't agree with his list as a whole. Having said that, it's not like he has the Giants way ahead of us; it's just one spot. Besides, they have a better record and QB, so one spot isn't that much of a stretch as of right now.
That Pete Prisco is a columnist who makes a living writing about professional football is the big joke. There are some guys, like Peter King, that I can't stand reading because they're clearly fans of one team or another and that team is not the Jets. There are others, like John Clayton, who weasel a lot and tend to pick the hot trends, however they've got some basic knowledge about football and they're often right when they hop on the bandwagon. Then there's Pete Prisco, who as near as I can tell walked into CBS one day looking for a job as a weatherman or something and they accidentally sent him over to CBS Sports to work in the web department. He knew that he only had to be right about 25% of the time, since that's the mark of excellence for most weather forecasters, and so he opened up a copy of Pro Football Weekly, tacked it up on the wall and started throwing darts at it to decide what he needed to talk about and why. I can't even remember the first column of his that made me laugh out loud but it couldn't have been later than 2003 or so because I can't recall reading much of his junk since then.
You guys act like the Jets should be top 5. The only good team you beat is the Cowboys, and that was the first week.
