I'm surprised this got so overlooked. Now before anyone gets on me, I've been the biggest (though quiestest) Santonio supporter on this board. I knew about his son and the stuff he's done for sickle cell anemia research long before the story that came out recently (having had a family member effected by the diseasse), so I've always thought the shit he gets was overblown. THAT SAID, why the fuck is he posting on twitter about getting high? Isn't he one failed drug test away from a year suspension? I don't really know shit about twitter, so maybe this was a phony post, but if it is him, then WTF? Get high, I have no problem with that. But don't fucking broadcast your intent to the internet. Because those "random" tests aren't so fucking random IMO. /junc
that quote was from his verified twitter account. i mean...i dont know if he can be that dumb, and post that. i know he has posted "Wake and bake" before, but he got caught.
TheJetsStream Manish Mehta I short-changed TE Shawn Nelson by 30 pounds. He's 6-5, 270 lbs. Jets are working our former Bills TE Shawn Nelson today, per source. Nelson is a pass-catching TE (6-5; 240); 4th rd pick in 2009
I like bringing in Nelson. If we want to go ground and pound, having better tight ends is almost necessary.
wow what a moron. hopefully Tanny drafts a young dynamic WR so when hes suspended a full yr for his next failed piss test we dont miss him as much.
Anyone know what happened with him? Why is he on the street? 04/28/2009 - A closer look at the Bills' picks: Round 4/121 -- Shawn Nelson, TE, 6-5, 243, Southern Mississippi...Nelson, who caught 157 passes for 2,054 yards and 16 scores, was considered the best pure receiving tight end in the draft lot, a four-year starter with a solid body of work. Has ability to snare the ball in traffic and create mismatch problems, particularly if the Bills decide to use him in the slot on occasion. He does have the ability to contribute as a rookie, and even start, depending on how quickly he can add bulk and improve as a blocker. The Bills would like to see his playing weight around 250 pounds. 04/28/2009 - COULD SURPRISE: TE Shawn Nelson is considered great value in the Bills' building. The Southern Miss star with a top-50 grade was chosen 121st overall. To their credit, the Bills gave up mandating that their tight end prospects have to be better blockers than pass catchers. Nelson isn't a polished blocker and he needs to add some bulk to withstand the rigors of the NFL trenches. But he's a polished receiver and route runner who has the ability to make an immediate impact on Buffalo's 22nd-ranked passing game after veteran Robert Royal wasn't re-signed. He could even run from the slot in combination with Lee Evans and Terrell Owens, giving quarterback Trent Edwards some juicy matchup advantages.
The Daily News has learned that the Jets are working out former Bills tight end Shawn Nelson today. The 6-5, 273-pound Nelson played two seasons in Buffalo before he was released. Nelson, who was the Bills' fourth-round pick in 2009, had 20 receptions for 181 yards and a touchdown in 17 career games with the Bills. Nelson was suspended for the first four games of the 2010 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He started 12 games in 2009 and one in 2010. Nelson was basically a jumbo sized receiver. The fact that he's 270 is scary because that means he's gained 30 pounds since last year and his game was based on his foot speed and route running. This team needs blocking tight ends - Brandon Manumaleuna would be the better option. I still don't understand how Matt Mulligan is a better option than him. I have a feeling this is similar to the Lousaka Polite situation - pick his brain about the Bills' blocking scheme and Gailey's offensive tendencies.
