The Jets were reportedly interested in James Jones before they signed Burress. Interestingly enough, we signed Burress the same exact day that the Packers re-signed Jones. So obviously we had at least some amount of interest in the guy. All I'm saying is that it's not a completely erroneous possibility that we could trade for him. Whether this team has enough interest to do so, only Tanny knows.
If the Packers call us up and say " Hey want him for a 6th? " Id say sure why the fuck not and have a team of Holmes, FA WR or Draft Prospect, Jones, and Kerley next year. BUT we dont need to make that trade yet at all. If Buress or Mason go down come back to me.
I can agree with everything you just posted. The only thing I'll add is that I'll be surprised if we decide to go out and sign a receiver next offseason to start opposite Holmes when we paid Holmes $50 mil last offseason. Teams don't usually do that.
Understandable, BUT if this team thinks we are one step away from winning a Superbowl and that one player, is Bowe or trading up for Jeffery/Blackmon then they go for it all. I agree having another FAT contract on the roster is not ideal but if we can sign Bowe for the same deal as Holmes or somewhere around there, Id be thrilled. If not a good plan B would be to draft a WR like Broyles, Floyd, or Fuller OR sign a WR like Edwards, Colston ( who might come cheap), or Wayne ( if the Colts dont franchise him).
Do we know what draft picks we received and lost yet in our deals where we traded away Lowery and Mason and got Schlauderaff?
It's all conditional. My best guess is that we'll give nothing away for Caleb Schlauderaff and get nothing for Derrick Mason. Dwight Lowery is playing well in JAX, so hopefully the Jets will end up with a 5th or a 6th rounder.
