Rex Ryan: “We’re going to be tough to beat” Getty ImagesAfter sticking his foot in his mouth about how many rings he’d have if he coached the Chargers, Jets coach Rex Ryan has promised not to talk any more about Super Bowl rings. But Ryan is still Ryan, and that means he’s still talking. And after having a day to reflect on Sunday’s win over the Chargers, Ryan said he’s feeling very confident in his team. “Absolutely, if we play like that we’re going to be tough to beat,” Ryan said. “There is no doubt.” At 4-3, Ryan’s team is still behind both the Patriots and the Bills in the AFC East, and there are six AFC teams with better records than the Jets. But Ryan says his team always goes on a late-season run. “We’ll make our run,” Ryan said. “We’re 4-3. We’re behind where I thought we’d be, but we still have a lot of football in front of us and we’re playing teams that we have to beat.” The last two seasons have ended with the Jets in the AFC Championship Game. Ryan doesn’t see any reason they can’t go a step further this season. “I can certainly understand why people would say, ‘Well, they’re not as good as this team or this team,’” Ryan said. “I mean both of those teams [2009 and 2010] went to the AFC Championship Game. We’ll see if this team can go to that spot or beyond.” Where does he mouth off? These guy's don't know what they are talking about.
I can understand getting pissed about Ryan guaranteeing Super Bowls, but who honestly cares that he thinks his own team will be difficult to beat? Doesn't every single coach in the league (aside from Tony Sparano) think that?
Some people like spinning anything and everything because it gets eyes on the article or paper fundamental 101 marketing. Its pathetic, but that basically means the usual crap from that source is trash
the media is just now going to use any vote of confidence to try to wait on this team to fail. and due to Rex's statements anything but a SB win is a failure. who gives a shit, as long as the team can continue to get back on track none of it matters
Hahah, this is considered mouthing off now? Rex could stop talking altogether and the press would start writing about how his facial expressions are somehow bragging.
They give the article that title so fans of every other team will read it because they hate Rex. Anybody who likes Rex will read it no matter what the title is.
What is he supposed to say? "We're gonna be easy to beat"? All the media and Jet hater fans can fuck themselves for all I care. Just look at Profootballtalk the second any Jet story is up. A bunch of delinquent bottom of the barrel scumbags spewing nonsense in the comment sections. "Rex is fat" "He must put his best foot forward lolololololol" Idiots.
Exactly. Headline writers are different than article writers. writer submits article, headline guy tries to generate clicks, nothing more.
Writer headlines: Rex believes team will be tough to beat if good Headliner: Rex guarantees his team will be tough to beat the rest of the season
Listen, I never played a damn down of football in my entire life,, But I watched a heck of a lot of Jets football games. I dont care what Rex say's,,, Last week something happened I was not sure was going to happen all year... This team came together. Offence, defence,Special Teams... And I saw the swagger for the first time this sesson in our recievers,, Not all of them but most of them. I guess the coaches were right It would take a while to jell. Correct if Im wrong but this last game there was a lot of jellen
Man let everyone cry... I love how everyone tries to hate this guy when he is one of the best motivators Deep down inside everyone wants this guy on your team lets be honest Top Ranked D, Gritty football team, Come back kids, Culture change, WINS, Swag, Talks shit, Takes the focus off a Young Quarter back, Sounds like my coach
The media whores will spin anything and everything because Ryan is an easy target and can be capitalized on. Unlike the Pats, even if he did not say a word the reporters will find an angle to chew on....as "Rex defiant silence clearly signals his team will go to the Superbowl" If it isn't Ryan then is Tebow portrayed as the next coming of Joe Montana
And I hardly see how this is mouthing off...it's a fact the Jets are a tough game for most if not all opponents. So it's no other teams mission is to win a super bowl? So what Rex says it out loud. It's every single franchises goal.
Everyone (non Jet fans) just assumes he comes to the podium firing away. There are reporters asking the questions, he's being himself in his answers.
I said most. Jets seem to get down on injuries like it was a hopeless effort. No mangold, and when Jim went down last year. :breakdance:
