Where waiting for you to remove yourself from his crotch so we can get sloppy seconds. No Jets fan should really give a crap about Freeman, Flacco, Etc. I'm thrilled we drafted a QB. I wanted to draft one since Pennington hurt his arm the first time. Sanchez wasn't great against the Chargers he almost lost us the game. He had some really good moments and he made an awful throw that almost cost us the game. We don't need Sanchez to outshine Freeman and Flacco, we need him to be much better than both of them if we are going to win a SB. The Jets mission is to win a SB not to shine their QB's jock for being better than Flacco or Freeman on a particular Sunday in October.
Sanchez didnt have that good enough of a game to warrant this thread. especially with still staring down targets and throwing behind or overthrowing targets I love the kid but hes got alot more to prove.
Over reactionary fans are over reactionary. OP's point is understandable but as the voices of reason have stated, Sanchez' consistency still leaves a lot to be desired. There are a multitude of factors related to this such as the changing of the WRs every season, Schotty, and an HC that is a Run First coach (which I happen to agree with). But as others have said including LT, Sanchez isn't my Fantasy QB, and I don't need him putting up Fantasy QB numbers. 200+ yards and a TD is fine every game as long as he is moving the chains and putting the team in a position to win.
Peter King is a passive aggressive Jets hater. He bumped them up way high in his power rankings early on so he could trash them later. He did this with Mangold already hurt and knowing the Jets were going to fall down with a tough 3 game road trip on the way. He did this despite the 2-0 Jets wins coming because Tony Romo misfired (again) and the Jags started a lousy QB against a Rex Ryan defense. On the bright side the Pats will lose Brady eventually and then we'll get to see the angry butthurt side of King's writing.
Sanchez is a mixed bag no matter what happens with Flacco or Freeman, and ftr I hear Ryan has been doing fairly well. But to focus on Sanchez, he is going through one of those streaks of fewer (not no) mistakes, and let's hope he keeps it up through at least the next three or four games. But for a guy who clearly has an issue with consistency, the OP's focus on one game as some proof he's a better Qb than some other inconsistent QB's is pretty laughable.
This post is an example of what I dislike about some jets fans. They give Sanchez all the credit when he plays well but throws schotty under the bus when Sanchez shits the bed. It has to go both ways either Sanchez gets all the credit and blame when he plays well/plays poorly or give schotty credit when Sanchez plays well.
Looking just at season two and the first 7 games of season three this is how the first year starters stack up: Freeman 744 passes, 16 interceptions, 2.2 pct. Flacco 735 passes, 18 interceptions, 2.4 pct. Sanchez 738 passes, 19 interceptions, 2.6 pct. Ryan 703 passes, 19 interceptions, 2.7 pct. E. Manning 790 passes, 25 interceptions, 3.2 pct. Brees 765 passes, 27 interceptions, 3.5 pct. Roethlisberger 502 passes, 23 interceptions, 4.6 pct. To clarify, to get on this list all of the following had to be true: 1. Started at least 1 game in rookie season. 2. Started the majority of games in second season. 3. Got starts in third season. Right now Sanchez is well ahead of the game. He's doing exactly what you'd expect a promising young QB to be doing given the opportunities available. He's doing this in the NYC media market. He's not an interception machine. In fact he's doing really well compared to most of his current peers (the people who also started right off the bat and played well enough to keep playing.) He's doing amazingly better than Ben Roethlisberger did in his third season when the Steelers inexplicably decided to go to a pass first offense and threw Big Ben to the wolves. Roethlisberger's Steelers were 1-6 and he had thrown 14 interceptions after 7 games, coming off of a Super Bowl championship. I understand the need to bitch because I do it a lot myself, but bitching about Sanchez performance at this point in his career is both clueless and self-destructive. The people who feel that Sanchez is not good enough probably should just stop watching the Jets because the only other QB the Jets have had who was this good this young was Joe Namath and those guys don't come along more than once every 40 years or so.
