If the bills go down 3 touchdowns every game I like our chances.

    No, he's really not.

Mathews and Tolbert have done really well this year. I was pleased to see us limit their production in the passing game as well. Mathews has very dangerous as a receiver this year.

Mathews had 6 carries for 14 yards in the first half.

Tolbert had 9 carries for 53 yards and a TD in the first half.

15 carries for 67 yards total.

I wouldn't call that poor. If you take away Tolbert's 29 yarder, their YPC is extremely low. The same goes for Miami's YPC if the Jets contained Reggie Bush on his 36 yarder last week.

The Jets have to limit long runs.

Hopefully Rex comes up with something during the bye to fix that for the rest of the season.. that's where the loss of Bryan Thomas is huge, something most fans who like to shit on BT don't realize.

These baseless predictions are so silly at this point in the season. You need 10 wins to make the playoffs 82% of the years. I outlined in great detail the statistical reasons while this year a 10-6 is unlikely to miss the playoffs in the AFC. All we need to do is focus on getting ten wins.

    Teams we should beat:
    MIA, KC, DEN, WASH

    Tougher games:
    @Buf, NE, BUF, @PHI, NYG

As long as we go 2-3 in the tougher games we get 10 wins and in all likelihood make the playoffs. Worrying about what the Bengals or Steelers do is irrelevant at this point in the season.

I agree, while I was one of the people who voiced my dislike of Thomas, he's greatly missed in our run defense. I think everyone will agree that BT is clearly better than Jamaal stopping the run. However, I think the big runs are as much due to the poor play of our safeties as it is Thomas' departure. Where Thomas' departure allows for 15 yard runs, our safeties' poor play are making those 15 yard gains turn into 20+.

I think Fred Jackson is better than Chargers' run game, in fact correct me if I'm wrong but I believe as of last week Jackson was leading the league in yards, and according to what I'm looking at now he is in second overall and has like 5 yards less than Darren McFadden. He also has more yards than Tolbert or Matthews combined (not counting reception yardage, although he has reception yardage too). Jackson is going to be a big problem for us.

I truly believe alot of these teams have yet to hit their "speed bump" No team has truly had any adversity to overcome. Bengals still have to play their opponents in their respected division. Oakland I feel will be good to late in the year, The bills have yet to meet us.

I think we are better than the Bills and should beat them. it wont be easy because they are well coached offensively with some playmakers, but we should be able to move the ball.

The Miami game was big. The Chargers game was bigger. The Bills game is even bigger. Then if we win all those, the Patriots game becomes the biggest.

The San Diego game answered a lot of questions about this offense. Depth is a concern with this team as we can't afford injuries many places. But I needed to see Sanchez, Greene, and the OL play well. That was our best offensive game of the season in a vital game against a good team. If we can improve off that, which we can, we will be in good shape.

The Bills came from down big against the Patriots for a comeback win. That's a test that they passed. They almost did it last year and this year they got over the hump.

They may not finish as well as they look right now but the days of the Bills as doormats is over. They're a legitimate 8 to 10 win team right now and all it takes is to win a few tight ones and they could be good for 11 wins.

Actually, I think that the AFCW will only send 1 team. The division winner will likely be 8-8 or 9-7. San Diego did NOT impress me at all. If KC wins next week, they will be 4-3 I believe.

Chan Gailey is a much better coach than Norv Turner.

KC, Oakland, and San Diego will be in the mix, too, like you guys said. SD isn't impressive, but they're probably best. Oakland is a wild card at this point as in who knows what they will be with Palmer. I don't think Oakland or KC will stay in for long.

Cincinnati is only in it late if they can get some wins vs Baltimore or Pittsburgh. If that happens, they can get in, if not, they're out.

Did you start a thread about the Jets' possible playoff chances just to shit all over the Jets' playoff chances and the remaining schedule?

Personally, past history for this team tells me not to try to guess which teams will end up with which records at the midway point of the season. Teams tend to get hot or come back down to earth around this point. I would assume if we can hit 10-6 we should secure a playoff spot, but I'm sure not going to predict which teams will be in it at the end, and I'm especially not going to simply toss everyone out there with a good record and pretend it's analysis on the playoff contenders. All that matters right now is that we keep winning.

Jackson's excellent, but teams have also had a tough time gauging how to best contain the Bills. Fitzpatrick was fantastic to start the season as teams started to key in on Jackson. As they respected the pass, he's come back down to earth a bit. With our corners and the injury to Jones, we can afford to do more to stop Jackson.

Also, people keep neglecting the other side of the ball. Sanchez has been at his worst in the face of pressure, which is something the Bills don't generate. They're worst in the league in sacks, which leads me to believe that despite their excellent secondary, the Bills can be exploited by our offense. They get a lot of picks, but Sanchez makes good decisions these days when he's given time to throw. They'll jump all over the quick passing game, however, so those disastrous quick outs and screens will need to stop.

Also, their rush defense has been even worse than ours, giving up over 5 yards per attempt. With Kyle Williams likely to remain out through next week, they'll be softer up the middle. Greene is getting on track and should have a good game.

It'll certainly be a tough test, but the gloom and doom scenario tommytom is selling is vastly overstated.

Yep. You always go into every season thinking 12 wins is a lock for the playoffs, 11 is a near lock, 10 is 60/40, 9 is dicey, and any less would be a miracle.

There's been nothing so far to think otherwise. Just keep winning, especially against AFC teams. Win your games in your division, win games against bad teams, and win games at home.

The 2 toughest games on the schedule, by far, are over with. If Philly gets on a roll, that will be tough on the road, and New England is dangerous. Everyone else is beatable, home or away. Obviously, Miami is easier than Buffalo, but if the Jets are as good as they think they are, they should win most of their remaining games.

Jets will probably be 3 pt underdogs at Philly. I would put at Buffalo around a pickem. If New England looks good next 2 weeks, I could see them as 3 pt favorites.

There are no games the Jets are clear underdogs in for the rest of the year.

Thank you for backing me up on this. Your sentiments is exactly what I am trying to stress. If we get to 10 wins, (an extremely real possibility) we make the playoffs much more likely then not. Randomly guessing teams that will be contenders is silly at this point, just focus on our wins.

I especially get a chuckle of the OP, who clearly did no research before making his statement. The Bengals, Steelers and Ravens are actually extraordinarily unlikely to all be close in the end; The Bengals still play 4 games against the two, and someone has to lose those games. Steelers also play the Ravens again. That is guareented 5 losses between those three teams. There has to be seperation mathematically.
