Not to be blasphemous, but I think he was better in 09, and couldnt win it. Granted he has made more game changing INT's so far this year than in 09. Hell what do I know? Maybe he actually is a better cover man this year, but he definately hasnt been challenged nearly as much this year as he was in 09. outside of the Miami game, he hasn't been challenged regularly this year.
He deserved it in 2009, but sadly the award is based more on reputation than impact. Revis has the reputation to win it now, and is getting the stats too.
I agree he was slightly better in 09, but this year with the 3 INTs he has the "stats" that voters look for when looking at awards like these so hopefully that will help him (like it hurt him with Woodson in 09).
When is the last time a defensive player won MVP? LT? Regardless, if he sustains this performance, Revis should be the unanimous pick for DPOTY and have a very good shot at MVP. I can't think of anybody who's more valuable to his team right now. That includes the Brady's, Rodgers', etc.
more teams should throw to revis. look at the success rate. that 4.3 QB rating revis had before today's game is gonna keep going down. it will soon his negative infinity? how? he's revis CHRIST.
For whatever reason, Teams have decided to throw at Revis and take what they get. So far, its been a painful experience for alot of Wr's and Oc's who probabably say WTF more often than not..
didnt Ray Lewis get it in like 04 or something like that? but regardless, the only way Revis is seriously considered as MVP is if the Jets win 12 games, he has at least 10 INT's and another TD or 2, while Rodgers stops playing Madden on sundays. Even then, he may need a Rodgers injury to win it.
DPOTY for sure at this point. I doubt we'll see another defensive player get MVP for a long time. Every talented QB and RB would have to go down to injury.
Darrelle Revis is so good, that when he switches it up and covers a zone where there are no receivers, he wills the ball into his hands off deflections. Steve Smith's ankle... Vincent Jackson's hands... these are not opponents' body parts. They belong to Revis, and he uses them as vessels for his miracles. Praise be.
