I realize you are a bills fan who just discovered NFL football this season but lets try and get the facts correct Sanchez has 36 NFL starts in the regular season, 6 in the postseason His record is 22 wins and 14 losses in the regular season, 4 wins 2 losses in the postseason I know you have fallen in love with Harvard-boy but Sanchez is a far better quarterback than he is or ever will be FEAR YOUR BEARD getting stomped in a few weeks
I really don't know about this guy. Sanchez, at times, can amaze you, and some times you can see his limitations. But , can he be a great QB in the NFL? That remains to be seen, but we won't find out if the OL doesn't improve and continue as an efficient unit during his tenure as a Jet.
Take a long look at Terry Bradshaw's first 5 seasons. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BradTe00.htm Then come back here and explain why criticism of Mark Sanchez play at this early stage of his career is kind of absurd. Look at John Elway's first 10 seasons. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/E/ElwaJo00.htm Look at Troy Aikman's first 3 seasons. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AikmTr00.htm The facts are that most QB's take years to develop into consistent producers. Many who are very good never become remotely error free in the process. Some who are very good and almost error free never get to play much in the playoffs because that's not the quality their team needed to get there. My point on Bradshaw is that not only was he not a good QB in his first five seasons, he wasn't even an average one. Not even by the lesser standards of the 70's. Mark Sanchez is light years ahead of where Terry Bradshaw was at this point in his third season. The Steelers made the playoffs that year despite having Terry Bradshaw as their QB. They lost in the AFC championship game directly because of his performance in that game. They only made it to the championship game because one of his typically erratic passes was batted down into Franco Harris waiting hands and he took it 60 yards for a score. That doesn't change the fact that Terry Bradshaw was a pretty good clutch QB before he was done. He just took some time to develop that quality. His team carried him for awhile until he was ready to fully contribute. Mark Sanchez is already a pretty good clutch QB. His team carries him some, although not much this season. But in the end he can make the plays that need to be made to win the game. In that regard he is much like Bradshaw only a bit ahead of him at the same point in their careers.
Children, regardless of allegiance, should not be allowed to post! No, you pick up a QB who is likely to be as good, if not better, than Sanchez and you pay him 30% of what Sanchez makes at a point when the Jets season is over anyway. Did you watch the game Monday night?
Or, God forbid, you could look at his body of work, his poor footwork, his bad on-field decisions, and his poor accuracy, and say "hmmmmmmm....this guy really isn't all that good. But......he took us to two AFCCG's so he must be great!................Right?
Steeler, you're trolling now. Young QB's do all the things you just suggested. Peyton Manning threw 28 interceptions as a rookie, as an example. The idea that Sanchez is no good because he's young and makes the mistakes that young QB's make is just silly. He also plays a lot better when it counts than some of the best QB's in the game including, uh, Ben Roethlisberger as an example.
Sanchez is like the youngest possible QB at year 3, having only started 1 year in USC and then playing out of the gate in the NFL. Aaron Rodgers sat for like 30 years before he started. And look at guys like Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco who still struggle and have a year on Sanchez. It takes time.
That's not true, he redshirted as a freshman and came out after his junor year. (Athletically a junior)
Regardless of how any of us feel about Sanchez, he is going to be our starter for at least the next few seasons...so we should just support him and hope for the best. The idea that a Jets fan is subconsciously hoping Sanchez fails just to come in this thread and say "I told you so" disturbs me. I have never criticized anyone on this team without hoping to be proven wrong.
If there was a way of turning Sanchez into 2 1st round picks that we could use to somehow pick Luck at number 1 overall, I'd personally do it, but its not possible so this post is full of shite
LOL at this thread's underlying assumption! NOBODY would give two #1 picks for Mark Sanchez. Nobody would give one #1 pick for Mark Sanchez. In fact, I doubt very seriously if anyone would give even a third or fourth-round pick for Mark Sanchez. He may not have negative trading value, but it's close. Only a Jets fan could think that another NFL team would make a midseason trade for a guy who hasn't mastered his own offense after THREE YEARS of intense coaching. Yeah, that's the guy you want to bring in on Tuesday to start Sunday! If you're trying to win this year, Mark Sanchez is about the last guy on the planet that you'd bring in to try to turn things around quickly. And if you're trading for the upside, wouldn't you, I don't know, just draft a promising quarterback in the first round next year with one of those picks, instead of giving up two to get a guy whose ceiling -- whose UNREALIZED ceiling, incidentally -- is "league average starter"? Lastly, on the subject of Sanchez being better than Ryan Fitzpatrick, we're all still laughing, in case you're wondering. Signed, Everyone outside of New York.
how did Mark Sanchez fare versus Ryan Fitzharvard last season TWICE and more thumpings to come for those living in the armpit of NY State
I bet I've been a Bills fan longer than you've been alive, sir, since I saw the Bills win back-to-back AFL Championships, and I remember Joe Willy as a rookie QB. Ummm ... 36 regular season + 6 post season = 42. I do believe that's "40+". You can't have it both ways, counting those post season wins as "proof" that Sanchez is "good" but not counting them as starts when you want to pretend that he's playing crappy now because he's "inexperienced". He's not inexperienced. He's been playing for the equivalent of 2 1/2 seasons, and he's not significantly better now than he was last season. Sanchez has not only had about 10 more starts than Fitzpatrick, his play bears a striking resemblance to the play of the guy Fitz replaced, Trentative Edwards. You might want to consider that, skippy, before you start rhapsodizing about how great Sanchez is.
Last season was last season. If Sanchez is still in the mode of "getting better every year" then so is Fitzpatrick, but even more so. The jury is still out on Fitzpatrick but right now he has a greater up-side then Sanchez.
just because Fitzharvard assblasted Tommigiirlyman and the cheaters is not enough evidence we'll reviewagain after the Jets put a whooping on Fitzharvard in a couple of weeks
With no viable option behind him, absolutely not. Sanchez is not worth two 1st rounders right now. One first and maybe a third, sure...
