Jenkins doesn't work for the Jets anymore, I don't know why anyone's expecting him to hold back his criticism of the team.
Kris is more than entitled to his opinion, but, just, from my viewpoint... That "copyright" thing seems like it could be him, not only taking a shot at Revis, but maybe also taking a shot at Bart, too? He copyrighted "Can't Wait," right? "Revis Island" and "Can't Wait" are two of the things I can think off that are copyrighted. I think while he's been on base about some of the "technical points" of the game, and what's failing the Jets, for instance.... When he talks about how the offensive playcalling is leading to the trainwreck we see, when he talks about how nobody else on the o-line knows the calls except Mangold, thus why it's in shambles without him, when he mentions the reason plays breakdown on defense, when he talks about adjustments that can be made, "sprint passes," "changing the drops Mark's doing" etc. ... In those cases? I really respect his opinion on the GAME. I'm growing less and less to appreciate or agree with anything he says about "the team" or the guys. So, to be clear, in the past couple of weeks, he's taken direct or indirect shots at Sanchez, Holmes, Revis and Bart (with the copyright digs). Tack on while Mangold was out, he took shots at Brandon Moore for not stepping up and learning the line calls and for not knowing them in the first place (pretty much subtle-y called him unmotivated, lazy, and/or slow, and said it was why some people in the locker room were particularly frustrated with the o-line play, because a tenured vet like Moore should have known the line calls and should have tried to pick up slack at the least when they didn't)... etc. And that he called out the youngest guys on the team as lazy while speculating they must be in the city partying too much with the "pretty girls." He's taken all of these shots while claiming he, Woody, and Ellis should have been kept on the team for ever and always. Got it. He sounds bitter, honestly. Also sounds to particularly target, not in every case, but in some cases (Revis, Sanchez, Holmes, Bart etc.) Rex's faves, while preaching HE should have been the player most valued. Kris Jenkins, a guy who needed a cookie diet challenge or some such to even get back in shape after reporting overweight to camp, yes? Or am I making that up? Kris Jenkins, who refused to wear knee braces? Got it.
sadly we have media loudmouths like Jenkins, Joe Willie and Lucas taking potshots the Cheats on the other hand have Roidney and Bruschi providing a round the clock Belichick circle jerk in the media every week
LOL like i said Klecko is the only guy worth listening to on that show. But in all honesty Bruschi is a good analyst, yes he is a bit of a Pats Homer, but the guy knows football, and if I remember correctly he has been one of our bigger supporters through our playoff runs the past 2 years. He even Picked us to upset the colts and go the the superbowl in the 09 AFCCG.
i don't get all the hate. Jenks has made a lot of good points and he still roots for us. unlike namath, he's seen the locker room first hand. we did lose a lot of leadership. t rich, Ellis, Cotchery.... not easily replaced. that's why you see santonio speaking up about things. someone needs to step up to the plate and that was his attempt at doing that. whether it was productive or not is debatable but that was probably the intent
Bullshit....the team is in a little trouble, and that is the time the team and the fans need to circle the wagons, not to take cheap shots at half the team. If he was a fan he wouldn't be grinding the "shouldn't have released me" axe in the media. He's just using his bully pulpit to bitch. KJ still does the same thing.... Namath just wants to be relevent....but he IS still a fan... Woody is the only one who rose above such BS
People immediately see "THIS GUY DISSED THE JETS? HE'S A WITCH! BURN HER!" This team absolutely lacks leadership. I'm not sure how you can watch this team play and feel otherwise. This was an issue before the season started who would step up and replace all the guys we lost. We lost a lot of veterans and good guys from the team last year. It makes sense the chemistry and leadership aren't quite as good.
Jenkins is fighting with Woody for a job in broadcasting...The fat guy is making a statement because people like to listen you talk about your prior team. Once you criticize your old team it makes it look easier to others that you are actually being analytical
Ah, he's doing us a favor. One thing that has always helped Ryan's Jets succeed is some dimwit saying, "this is why the Jets won't suceed." Keep talking, Big Jinx.
my point exactly... yeah we lost some key veteran leaders... but kris was hurt the 2 years he was here and was always out of shape, plus pouha and devito filled his void nicely woody finsihed his career with an injury and retired ellis i wouldve like to sign for one more year but lets face it, hes not worth the money that he got... as much as he was a leader it wouldve been money unwisely spent... t-rich was very old and conner is the guy every1 knew we were turning to speaking of verteran leaders... what about david harris, revis, mangold, LT, pouha, pace, moore, scott.... granted a few arent as old as others, but they are all veterans that no the game... how many more veterans do we need... Jenkins you ARE a joke
veterans =/ leadership and most of the guys you named are on the defensive side of the ball. and i don't agree that calvin pace is "a leader". if brandon moore is such a leader, how come he doesn't know any the protection calls despite being the longest tenured member of the o line? There's also different types of leaders. Vocal and quiet leaders....Harris and Moore have always been known as quiet guys. you need someone to step up and be vocal when things are not going well. i'm willing to bet T rich and Ellis were more of the vocal leader types. Cotch seemed like more of a quiet guy
Very true, but it irks me that Jenks and others blame the FO for this loss of leadership. All of those leadership guys are either retired or riding the pine elsewhere. It was time for them to go and it is now time for some new leaders to step up. This leadership void is certainly more apparent on the offensive side on the ball with Holmes and Moore acting like brats and Plax sulking.
not saying all these guys are proven leaders in the lockerroom, but they are veteran players... meaning we have a good amount of older players, we cant afford to make our whole team ancient... we need a balance and thats what we have... ppl think leadership is the main problem with this team...? its all poor execution and bad timing... as the season goes on our leadership will mysteriously "evolve" out of nowhere.. watch
Ellis would have probably never even ventured off if we had offered him more than the vet minimum. 2-3 mil would have kept him here and the pats wouldnt even have had a chance. We also didn't even offer Woody a contract. I'm sure he weighed his options and decided to retire instead of become a journeyman. there was no indication that he was hellbent on retiring. it just worked out that way. i'm not saying we did or didn't do the right thing, i can understand the FO's thinking on this, but lets not completely absolve the FO. these guys could have stuck around and it wouldn't have taken much. but they wanted to cut the cord
yes and those are things that perpetuate when there's no leadership to correct it, or prevent it from happening. leadership makes guys accountable and puts them in their place instead of pointing the finger at each other. your argument, and last two posts for that matter, are absolute garbage.
OHHH im sorry my posts dont meet your standards... your right you KNOW what the problems are, how come you havent been hired by the jets FO... they could really use your expertise... chill out dude face it were all speculating and all have our own opinions... in my opinion keeping kris jenkins, ellis wouldnt have helped us much at all... t-rich maybe, woody if healthy probably.... cotchery didnt want to be here so thats not even worth talking about
Last I checked, the FO puts the team together, so it's their job to make sure we have all the right ingredients to succeed. I don't even mind individually getting rid of Jenkins or Ellis or Smith or T-Rich. I would have tried harder to bring back Woody, but he retired, so what can you do. But this team lacks an identity, the offense is bickering at each other, and the team is not playing well. The FO takes a hit for that, whether it's lack of leadership, lack of talent or whatever. If it's leadership, they should have recognized they were letting a lot of veteran leaders go and bring in somebody else who is respected in the locker room. Hopefully in a couple months this is all a memory we can laugh at since the team is playing a lot better. Not sure if we'll get to that point with this team. If you want to dismiss Namath's thoughts since he hasn't been around here for a while, fine, though respect him for what he did. Jenkins was in this locker room the last 3 years. Sure, he was hurt a lot, but he knows a lot more about locker room dynamics than we would. His opinion is very valid.
