anyone else wondering if he's been fitted with lead soled shoes? Like others said, he looks sloooow. Even worse is his effort, and body language on the sidelines. At least if he was slow, but catching the balls that hit his hands, or would go up for the ball..... but geez.... Thinking that he could replace Braylon is looking like a BAD move! :shit:
Everytime they showed him on the sideline he looked pissed off/ disgruntled. it seemed like they were forcing balls to him at the end of the game as well...
Well, his history in the league has never been good as a team mate. A problem in Pittsburgh, a problem with the Giants, exclusive of the SB, winning catch and then he shot himself and went to jail, Except for some organization friendly words after he was signed, he went right back to his pattern of seemingly being hurt during the week, not practicing and then playing on game day. He's not getting it done on the field in games but I have no idea what the answer is. Is it going to get better as the season goes on? I doubt it.
He is a pro athlete who's been in jail for two years and did not work out in the off season w/his QB because of the lock-out. He has only looked bad in the past two games and that is because of attitude, which clearly did not change need when he was in prison. Schottenheimer needs to figure out a way to get him involved in the game earlier
Plax has been terrible. He's far slower than he ever was before he got thrown into the clink, from what I could see he was rounding off all of his routes, and like others have noted he looks like a child sitting on the bench with that sourpuss look. Oh yeah, and then there's the drops. Dude's a bitch. Another waste of money and failed gamble by Tanny. Maybe Plax figures things out and gets his form back by the post-season, but I doubt it. If they use this crap an as excuse to go wide receiver in the first round next year, that sucks.
He is only hurting himself if the year continues like it has. Who is going to pay for an old WR at the end of his career after having a shit season?
An old ex-con wide receiver that appears to be as undisciplined and selfish as he was before he went to prison, and has lost 5 steps.
so what if he cant get separation? with a guy his size all you have to do is put the pass high and on his back shoulder the problem is he would probably drop it
For Sanchez's development, it was very important to keep players around him that he's comfortable with, especially during a shortened preseason. Tanny failed at that, and our offense has suffered as a result. The wrong guy is wearing that #17 jersey.
Ok so the whole game last night Plax looks like he was complaining and having dirty looks on his face. He had a couple drops last night and he just looks slow overall. If this guys head isnt in the game then I dont think he should even be on the team. I mean he has produced for us this year somewhat, but dude get your fucking head in the game Plax, you have something to prove now do it!!
I have no problem with him being upset. This offense is playing like shit and he's a part of it. Who's to say he isn't upset with himself for not making more plays? He's thrown a number of big blocks and he wants to win. Until he actually makes a big deal about not getting ball, those that are whining need to quit their bitching. It's always the same guys too.
So basically we've got $4.5 million in guaranteed money tied up in 2 receivers, one of which isnt even on the team anymore, that aren't worth a damn.
Plax has been crappy to say the least, but like all other Jet problems, I lay the blame on Shotty. I watched Plax in many a Giant game before he got sent up the river. He was never fast, he never had good hands (although he wasn't as bad as he's been so far). Where he was really outstanding was running fades in the endzone and catching jump balls against smaller cornerbacks. I cannot remember how many times in last nights game when the Jets were in the red zone I was screaming at the tv for Shotty to call the fade to Plaxico in the end zone. Instead he would line him up in the slot against a cluster of LB's and dbacks time after time. Jets need to split him out wide in the red zone and just throw it up and let him jump if they want to use him effectively. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be a play in the dink and dunk Shotty playbook.
let me point out one thing that i don't think has been mentioned thus far.... (i'm not saying there isn't merit to what's being said, but this is something that has to be factored in too) we've never had a 6'5 receiver, so we've never seen one run on a regular basis. These long stride type of guys are ALWAYS gonna look slow unless you're actually on the field up close to see. i'm not saying plax is fast, but name one receiver that's that tall in the league that just looks like a burner when you see him play. short guys that move their legs faster will always appear to be faster, that's just a fact.
also, plax never really got much separation. sanchez needs to learn how to throw to him where only he can get it. the guy is fuckin 6-7 inches taller than most of the guys he goes against with a helluva lot longer arms. i don't think he's comfortable enough with him at this point to make those types of throws and is petrified of throwing a pick that close in coverage. think about it, sanchez's weapons have always been based on separation for the most part, not jump balls
We have all seen brad smith not look like he was running blow by guys. This would be a good explanation if we had seen plax get by anyone so far this season. He doesn't just look slow because of long legs. He looks slow because he always has a corner attached to his hip.
