Wouldn't mind him getting carries. He's playing well enough that he's earned them, and Greene and LT have shown very little. He might be more valuable as a receiver to this team. I liked what I saw from him at WR. Would be interesting to see what Bilal Powell can do at some point. Greene and Tomlinson are nothing special, wouldn't hurt to see McKnight or Powell get a shot.
The moment I saw him split wide with a LB covering him I knew he was getting the ball. Thankfully Mark didn't stare him down the whole time.
McKnight is not going to get a lot of carries for the Jet's, probably ever, because he's an object of Rex Ryan's fetish at this point. Not the one you're thinking of, the other one, cornerbacks. For whatever reason Ryan is really obsessed about having a strong cornerbacking corps and McKnight played CB in high school and apparently when the Jets play him there in practice he looks pretty good. This is one of those situations where a guy is listed at one spot on the depth chart but his coach secretly has him at another. Now maybe Shonn Greene will go down and Ryan will have to actually use McKnight as a tailback but until that happens Rex is going to hold on to his stash as hard as he can.
Hey I think it is really great to see McKnight get better and better. It seems on a weekly basis he is making big plays, getting involved and becoming an integral part of the Jets. He is similar to Brad Smith but dare I say more talent as a football player.
Not sure what the FO has in mind for McKnight. We've seen him at RB, WR, and CB, as well as on special teams. I don't think he'll get much time at RB because he may be more valuable to us elsewhere (WR, not CB). I wouldn't mind seeing Powell active. I have no clue how he's looking in practice, but the running game needs a spark.
I usually agree with everything you say, but really? This is just outlandish. If he was so good at CB, wouldn't he be playing, um, CB?
McKnight is great because he's the kind of guy you can throw at CB and expect him to cover tight and unlike most CB's who are only CB's because they can't catch, he'll pick a few off. That said, I'm not sure I want him going through the bruisings RB's endure after 50-60 hand offs a week. My fear is if he winds up playing hurt (Remember, even c-mart admitted he was playing hurt every week at that position) we lose some of his other abilities.
Since the OC calls runs outside and Greene is not a RB who can run outside, I'd say it's only a matter of time before McKnight gets the ball.
