I was actually planning on catching up (starting) Breaking Bad sometime already. I've just recently realized how I'm robbing myself of good TV shows.
The first season of Breaking Bad is only seven episodes. ...so if you planned on watching The Walking Dead's first season because it was relatively short, then you should just watch Breaking Bad instead. I can't recommend this show enough. The Walking Dead is a very good show as well, but I agree with Puck's opinion: it started out better than it ended.
Yeah I will give Breaking Bad a shot instead and probably just wait until October to try The Walking Dead. That way if I like it I can just go straight into season 2 without waiting.
As soon as The Walking Dead deviated from the source material, it got lousy. If the show had stuck to the books, it would have been gold. There was a perfectly compelling story to be told, but for some reason, the producers decided they wanted to draw it out into the second season. All that crap about an exploding CDC... ugh. Carl, smoking gun in hand, fade to black. End season. Would've been epic. Plenty of time to make up for it, though.
I was a little harsh, but the writing and acting of the people in the last 2 episodes just tilted me for some reason, especially that convoluted CDC thing that was probably there to just appease the masses. Thankfully I think Darabont fired all the writers and is starting fresh.
^^That's a bit unsettling -- But I think the source material is strong enough that if they get a competent replacement, the show will still be good.
I just watched through the first season in three days after seeing this thread getting bumped again. Amazing show, absolutely loved it, however the first episode and the second were clearly the best. I kept expecting that guy from the roof to bust in at any moment for a while. He apparently took their truck right? Do we just assume he's dead when they abruptly stop talking about him?
Jesus! What is so hard about this, AMC? You look at the comic. You make the actors do the things and say the things they say in the comic. You film it. Success!
Webisodes -- I'm aboot to watch these (or try anyway, since I'm at work). Six part mini web series about the "bicycle girl" zombie. http://io9.com/5846210/6-walking-dead-shorts-tell-the-bloody-story-of-the-undead-bicycle-girl

wonder how this is all gonna turn out with no writers. I agree with the previous post about it starting out better than it ended....
