your second post today that i have read and both were right on the money. we had the same problems under herm with ol noodle arm running a dinky-dunky offense.
He wasn't trying to be a star and I don't think his criticism of the offense was out of line, in fact he was right on the money. With all the loudmouths this team has, including the coach himself, I doubt they traded him for talking crap about Schottenheimer. So no, he wasn't a cancer. He just wasn't producing, but quite honestly NO ONE is producing. He's 37/38? We might as well trade him for an extra pick, no harm done and we get some value back. I don't understand why they've been hellbent on talking about it though, they're making people suspicious by talking about it so much. I think they want to control the situation, but to say they're deflecting because they traded him because of the comments about the offense is reaching.
They haven't been able to go deep because Mangold got hurt in the second game and the line was a disaster. The Jets have thrown it deep plenty the past couple of years with Sanchez.
FOFLMAO!!! Where? Do you know a high school (or maybe a Pop Warner team) that has an opening? Even if you should be right, they're welcome to him.
It might be worse than that..................... My thought was maybe he was talking in the locker room or to coaches that.... "SANCHEZ JUST ISN'T A CHAMPIONSHIP QB" Not THAT would deserve a cover up because you would never want it out there that your QB is being questioned in the locker room.
As I said we don't know for sure what is going on in their plans and expectations for the rest of this season and future seasons, but your post makes perfect sense to me. The Jets saw enough in the first five games to see they were not going to be able to use Mason, not so much for lack of effort or anything like that on his part (for example he's made some very nice grabs when the ball did come his way). It's just the type of O they thought they were going to have and to use him in is not what's happening on the field. You point to the OL as a problem here, and of course we all have to agree that's the case. The evidence is too overwhelming. But imo it's not only the line. It's also that so far Sanchez this season has not made or shown any improvements in his game, either. For him to be a better pocket passer, more accurate with better decisionmaking, was also necessary for the type of O they thought they would have to work. One thing we should look for the rest of the year in addition to seeing who fits in best going forward is what kinds of alterations are made in the overall offensive approach. All coaches involved in the offense will be on the line to come up with something.
You are correct, there are some eery similarities to the Hermtite era's offense. Except there the limitations clearly were coming from Chadwick's weak arm. Now I wonder if it's more coming from Sanchez's weak brain. (dives in my foxhole)
Again, this is a common fallacy. If you are throwing to a spot downfield, you can loft one on a three step drop no problem.
We've heard about him being a good QB in terms of reading coverages, and he did call the last play of the Indy game to set up the Folk FG. I don't think its definitive one way or the other. Either Schotty is fucking this kid up, or he's getting confused with the defenses. I'd like to see everyone not rely on Mangold so much for line calls and learn it themselves too.
In fairness I agree he has sometimes done a good job reading coverages. But it's hard to argue he is consistently good at that. It's one thing to have an interception off a tipped or bounced pass. It's another thing like we see too much of from Sanchez where he obviously misreads the coverage. I would say someone who is too inconsistent at reading coverages cannot be called good at it, even if sometimes he gest it done. We can only speculate why he is inconsistent, but that he is is beyond a doubt.
You'd have to wonder if there's whispers about that JB. I'm not seeing the progress and I'm not a professional so you have to wonder if those who are around Mark aren't seeing the progress as well. When you have 50mil+ tied up in a question Mark, you really have to strive to protect his image and by doing that, control the flow of information getting outside the lockerroom. I think there's a full blow coverup going on regarding just how dysfunctional this team really is. Imagine the effect on PSL sales if all the speculation is really true and that information gets out...
You guys realize Mangini and herm both got coaching jobs after leaving here, right? Schotty will get another one too.
Hey, I didn't want to draft Sanchez. That said, you can't deny he played well the 1st two seasons FOR A GREEN ROOKIE.... I had my doubts all along but, 1 thing that I thought was a positive was when a WR like Holmes would WANT to stay a Jet. he would get his money anyway - but, he has to know his career will be greatly defined by QB play and he IMO, put his stamp of approval on Sanchez......Even Braylon wanted to stay.... I even thought it was a positive that Derick Mason was Ok playing with Sanchez... Plaxico probably didn't know any better. HEY MAYBE COTCHERY BELIEVED SANCHEZ WAS BELOW PAR - Weird the way he wanted Out. This really all could be about SANCHEZ. Even the Schotty criticism - Hey if your QB has the jitters and can't light up a below average Defense you are severely limited.
