Turns 31 in July, coming off a great season asking price a 3rd-5th rounder. While getting him for a 3rd round pick is far from desirable, hed be quite a steal for a 5th. Only under contract till the end of the season, then who knows what kinda $$$ hell ask for. That said with our offensive woes, would he be a solution to an offense that desperately needs help ? http://rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/216461/report-broncos-put-wr-lloyd-on-trading-block Who knows what kinda money hell command, but considering hes only had 1 good season it cant be much. Not to mention we might get a conditional for Mason already
We got a 7th rounder for Mason. The Jets need to get younger at the position. We can't keep bringing in these 30 plus year old stop gaps.
As much as I like Lloyd as a WR (one of the few WRs that attack the ball with their hands not body snatcher like most), this WR corps needs speed.
Given the Jets WR situation they'd be crazy NOT to be in the thick of this uction. A 4th would be a decent value, but even it took a 3rd, I think the Jet have to make that trade. Its not like the Jets are rebuilding. He's the best WR available. All the FA are more washed up than the Jets claim Mason was.
Absolutely, but we also have a team built to win now. And with how many holes on the defense we have, and massive needs on the oline/te we really wouldnt be able to draft a WR until the mid to late rounds anyway. So youre talking either using a 5th rounder on a guy who may go boom or bust and likely wouldnt be solid for 3-4 IF he doesnt bust, or getting a "surefire" guy who probably can offer us 5 solid years for the same pick. As far as im concerned the only issue is how much money he would want long term. I have no problem giving up a 5th for this guy (who doesnt have alot of mileage) and using him for the next 5 years. I would however be relatively upset trading for a guy for a 11 game rental
lloyd has amazing hands and will make more circus catches than almost anybody in the league, but he's not that fast. we need WRs who can get separation. and a 1 year rental on a guy who doesn't know the offense at all doesnt sound like a good idea. he'd be a good fit on the rams
We need guy with speed that can run a clear route defenses will respect to open up things underneath.
Wide receiver is not the problem. It's time to stop throwing away draft picks for players at the end of their contracts. What is wrong with Holmes, Burress and Kerley????? Why put Kerley back on the bench. The Jets need to get younger and faster at WR. The reason for this slow start is the poor play of the OL, the lack of a running game, horrible play calling and some untimely play by the defense. I don't think adding another possession receiver changes the season one iota.
Jets need one more WR - that's it. Tall/fast/physical one, that is. Lloyd does not fit the fast requirement. And he's 30. He can take a hike. And for the last time, Jets must stop trading picks away for stop gap players.
And if the Jets have their need @ WR filled they an afford to draft OL/DL/OLB/TE/S in the first 4 rounds next year. Unless you feel ok going into next season with Holmes, Kerley, and uhm Patrick Turner ?
Also gonna add we have an undisclosed draft pick for Lowery from the Jags. Odds are its a 4th/5th rounder. So if we could draft OL/OLB/TE/S/DL all in the top 5 rounds AND get lloyd, thats something id be pretty happy about. Sure lloyd aint a burner (not too many of them available) but we literally have no receiving corp going forward. And Kerley is a slot guy not a solid #2 Beats listening to Strahan
spot on ! No addition of any kind will Help at this point. We need to run this offense against the dolphin's and put some good things together. If we have success , then that can lead to good things.
