Not to derail the conversation ... but i feel that Baxter did more with less time on the team as a undrafted FA .. than Ducasse has done as a 2nd round pick last year. If i had to keep one or the other ... right now i keep Baxter. I pray Ducasse gets it, and he clearly needs that full offseason as you say, but to say Baxter was terrible isn't fair imo.
Yeah I am really not ready to give up on Ducasse. He needs this entire year and the offseason to learn more. If going into week 1 he still sucks, so be it and cut him.
I second that. For an undrafted rookie free agent suddenly thrown into the starting lineup he wasn't terrible. Didn't do anything special but what did any sane person really expect?
Oh no!! We lost Drew Coleman?? Umm he sucks. We lost Jason Taylor and Shaun Ellis?? We replaced all these players with nobody?? Umm Shaun Ellis and Jason Taylor have a combined 7 tackles and 1 sack this year. Obviously tearing it up big time and we desperately miss them. What some people obviously fail to realize is that we aren't getting the 2008 or 2009 or even 2010 versions of these players. We lost the 2011 versions and those versions aren't good players anymore. We replaced Ellis with a 1st round pick, who is coming along nicely as a DE and rotational players like Pitoitua who also has a sack and has played well.. We Taylor with Westerman and Maybin as edge rushers, and they've combined for 3 sacks so far this season in limited action. We replaced garbage Drew Coleman (how quickly people forget how much he sucks) with 1st round pick Kyle Wilson who has been playing very well. Fans who are sick of Rex and Tannenbaum at this stage of their regime make me embarrassed to be a Jets fan. It's disgusting.
Which passrusher were the Jets supposed to scoop up exactly? They're so fucking stupid how do you not sign Tamba Hali or Demarcus Ware.
There's no reasoning with this thread. Nobody's happy with being 2-3 this year, but this is a guy who was probably bitching about giving up the field goal in the Jaguar game.
This regime has been at it for two years, and what have they brought us? We are still a very good football team - maybe not a Super Bowl team, but I like watching Rex Ryan's teams play and they have brought me more joy and pride in the last two years than in my 40 years as a fan. They have fun, they play with heart, and they don't back down from anyone. He single-handedly got rid of the SOJ mentality, but unfortunately there will always be SOJF like you. As for Tanny, do you remember when NO ONE wanted to sign here as a FA? I do and it sucked. Sure he trades away picks for players and higher picks, but he has made big splashes in FA, through trades, and in the draft while managing the salary cap efficiently. We have a mix of veterans and young players and we had to let older players like Ellis and Cotch go. Sorry that you felt apparently so much of an attachment to them, but they have certainly not excelled in their new digs. With our owner's blessing and $, Tanny has created a lot of excitement among the fan base and it makes me feel like this organization wants to win. We lose three tough road games and you want to clean house because of Rex's ego? For what/whom? You going to dig up Vince Lombardi and Paul Brown to run this team? Bring back Herm and Bradway? The Mangenius? Sorry, but I'm not getting on that train to Nowhere.
Haha it's so true.. like you've got to be freaking kidding me. Complaining about losing Drew Coleman and 2 washed up pass rushers. Some people will never be happy and should just go away and stop bothering sane people.
Schotty needs to go and the only reason to get rid of Rex is if we can get an offensive guru like Gruden. Sanchez needs a real OC to bring him along. As for the Bush comment outside of the states most people agree that Obama is a bad president, but we aren't to blind to see it's because he is stuck cleaning up Bush's mess.
fans and pundits alike (especially our buddy francesa) are all overreacting. there's not one personnel decision they made on defense that I think was a poor one......with all the free agents and the labor situation, they picked the right guys for the future, and gave up on the right guys. Peolple are upset about Ellis? lol....don't get me wrong, loved the guy and his loyalty.....but his time has passed. He's had about 2 or 3 good games as a Jet over the last few seasons..they just all happen to be against the Pats. That playoff game last year emptied what little remained in his tank. The only move I questioned was the Cotchery move, which as it turns out was not a terrible decision. I fully expected them to be 3-2 at this point so they're one game off of that. I saw some better signs against the Pats as far as a more balanced attack on offense.....good pressure on Brady etc. The run defense will improve. The O line still worries me....but they win the next 2 going into the bye......they'll be in the mix......the games against Buffalo will be huge..who would have ever thought that.
We have the best front office and the best head coach we've had in our history, enjoyed more success over the past two years than we have in four decades, and some fans still want to whine, unbelievable!
Its nothing but spoiled kids wanting everything and wanting it now. They love having players like Revis, Sanchez, Greene, or in the OP's case like Harris, but bitch about the picks traded away to draft them. They complain beasue every draft pick is not a hit. They whine and cry incessantly over the loss of "team leaders" who are either physicaly done, or doing next to nothing in new locations such as Edwards and Cotchery. Both our Offense and defense have taken turns looking like shit, both have played somewhat respactable at times. Its a long season to be jumping off a cliff at 2-3.
