You are right. They have tried to build a team for a short run which did not work and now have no depth. It all falls on the head coach and the GM.
but look yourself in the mirror and convince yourself that the statement is not true. Or are you one of those that buys into the 911 conspiracy theory and that we would have beat them even with manning.
Did Indy also assist us in winning at Cincy and SD in that playoff year? I'm pretty sure we did that on our own.
Damn DH. We haven't had this much success in a long time. Don't jump off the bandwagon just because things aren't going as well as we had hoped.

At what point do you stop accepting getting "close"?
Fans like you make me absolutely sick. Mike Tannenbaum has delivered this fan base players in the draft, who are now top players at their positions. He has made big moves to bring in players via trade/throwing $$. He isn't one of those GMs who are afraid to make moves, or spend $(thanks Woody J BTW) God forbid he makes a mistake. You tell us who you want Mr.T to sign for a pass rush. I want to see you list a few players that were available last year. NOBODY!!! We had depth at OLine. Turner, and he broke his god damn leg. Ducassee at the moment is a bust, until proven wrong. He tried. He isn't going to hit every year. ......Okay I can handle trashing Mr. T, but Rex? Rex Ryan made this franchise 10 times better then it's been the past few decades. The day Rex Ryan stood up at the podium for his first press conference he did this. How do you know Mason is the 'fall boy'? Maybe Rex was sick of his shit himself? You know he doesn't have the best reputation the past few years. Also good JOB MR.TANNENBAUM..traded him for a 7th, but that isn't what we really got. Mason signed a 2 year 3.81million dollar contract. Now it's gone. Jets paid about 600k of it. He was getting cut next year anyway most likely. Cotchery is trying to get in a Steelers uniform as the 5th or 6th WR, and George Bush is wasted drunk every night at a Texas Rangers game. Bush sounds like hes having a good time, but Cotchery isn't. Cotchery is also making less $$ to be a bench bitch in Pittsburgh. Bringing up fuck ups by Rex/Mr.T is fine, but bitching about it in this fashion is ridiculous. Watch the Jets go on a run, and Rex/Mr.T are super stars in your eyes.
Cotchery has 0 catches this season Ellis has 0 sacks this season Taylor has 1 sack this season The Jets are 8th in the league with 13 sacks. Last season they were 8th in the league with 40 sacks. This season they are on track for 42 sacks. Also if you watch the games, it looks like they're putting more pressure on the QB than they were last year. There are still plenty of times where the QBs have all day to throw, but that's been reduced greatly I'd say. The main issue with the D right now is run defense. Mason sucked in all 5 games he played. Kerley in his limited time has been better. Get over it. People are also overrating the whole leader thing. You're trying to tell me that of all the guys in the locker room that there's no one who will step up and be a leader? If you're old and suck, you shouldn't be sticking around for "intangibles." Fuck that.
No one was available because he mortgaged our future and we had no draft picks. I see you are a kool aid drinker all around.
Doesn't matter if it were not for Indy we would not have gotten to the title game. Last I looked football is not like horse shoes. At what point do you stop accepting getting "close"?
It doesnt matter to me how we got there, I care about what we did WHEN we got there and that was win 2 impressive games on the road. Close isnt bad when you consider what we went through for several years before that.
got a good reason to be drunk on kool aid after what Rex has done the past 2 years. especially with a rookie qb. we have about 8 million in cap left. we could of got a OLB if one was available.
Not entirely off topic: I am fed up with red lights when you have to stop at one at 3 AM when nobody is around.
yeah, you know more than Tannenbaum and Rex, you have my support if you wanna be the new head coach or GM. jeez, just when I thought I heard all the retardiest things in the world, DHarris52 show's up.
Dude - feel free to jump off the bandwagon. Just promise us to stay off. Most of us here have been around or followed the Jets long enough to know why we say Long Suffering Jets Fan. I'm not suffering any more. Rex changed the culture of the team and fan base on day 1. Rex made this team a contender in his first year. Rex removed the SOJ label by the 2nd year. Rex helped get this team 4 or 5 prime time spots the last 2 years. You don't do that if your team sucks. Besides this week - when was the last time the Lions were on Prime time tv? The Jets are relevant in football - and on a consistent basis. Are there going to be bumps in the road? Yes. Are there going to be losing seasons? Yes. I don't expect the team to reach the AFCCG every year. But I do expect a super bowl win in the next 7+ years. Bill Cowher had 13 years with Pitt before he won a SB and he is revered as an all time great HC. How I have no fucking idea, but I have to assume its because Pitt was relevant every year. I'm giving Rex 10 years at least. If this team is a consistent playoff team, that's more success than we've seen since Ewbank was in charge. If the Jets are in the PO's this year, Rex has equaled Ewbank's playoff record. If the Jets make the PO's this year AND next he has surpassed any NYJ coach for PO appearances. After being mired at the bottom of the list for so long, and having shitty coaches outside of a few bright spots over the last 40 years (Ewbank, Michaels, Parcells), I'll take and keep Rex and his big talk, even when we have egg on our faces. As for Tanny, all I have to say is: Mangold, D'Brick, Revis, Harris. Not many GMs can make a claim like that. Most of them get 1 or 2 hits and the rest are mediocre players. Open your eyes man and stop being an ass.
My only two problems with Tannenbaum is the never ending loyalty to Schottenheimer and not addressing the offensive line this offseason. They still have no backups that I trust. Baxter is awful, Ducasse needs a full off season with an offense line coach and then maybe he will develop. Plenty of solid veteran lineman were available. All you have to do is look at the 2006 roster for the 2011 roster to know what Tannenbaum brings to the table. Not to mention the young guys from the last few drafts who are developing slowly like Mcknight and Kyle Wilson. I think this will wind up being a transition year for the Jets. They will still be competitive and possibly make the playoffs, but the front 7 is in the process of being rebuilt and I have no hope for Sanchez and the offense until Schottenheimer is replaced. The defense may take a step back this year but in the future it's only going to get better as they revamp the personnel and the young guys develop.
Yeah, those guys fucking suck. I mean back to back AFC Title appearances in Rex's first 2 years is shit. Rex is too fat and Mike is too Jewish to win.
I can understand people being fed up with this season to date (I know I am) but I think Rex and Tanny have done a great job over the last couple of years. You go on about the Patriots but at the end of the day they simply fluked into landing a HOF QB which is responsible for a very large part of their success - you cannot legislate for that happening or blame the FO for not doing the same.
They've been going for it in the short run for about five years in a row, and it's worked four times. Don't let a so-so start against a pretty tough schedule throw you for a loop.
You Are Completely Clueless It's hard to believe I'm actually going to answer to this post Ellis got more than he deserved going to NE and has done absolutely nothing. Jason Taylor? Jason Taylor? Really? You are complaining we didn't resign Jason Taylor? We didn't get anyone to replace them? What about Mohammad Wilkerson? What about Ropati Potuitoa? Who would you have like us to pick up? Please tell me? RAY EDWARDS???? He's playing great out in Atl isn't he? Just So you know we are tied for 8th in the league for most sacks. Because Tannenbaum was supposed to know that our starting center and his backup were going to get injured. Yes Hunter hasn't played great but he played well in the playoffs last year. Why would Tanny expect any different? If you take Woody leaving into consideration 3 of our top 7 lineman have been unavailable. Why don't you take off your rose colored glasses and only post on shit that you actually know about? James Ihedigbo was garbage. Did you see him play on the Pats last week? He did absolutely nothing. The kid is not a starter. How many safeties do you want us to have? We resigned Smitty and Pool, and will probably be drafting another in FA. ERIC COLEMAN? Really? You are complaining we didn't sign Eric Coleman? Coleman had been with us for 6 or 7 years and has proven nothing except that he could play dime back at an ok level. And if you paid attention to the Jets remotely you would know that we resigned Donald Strickland who shits on Coleman. Oh wait, now that I think about it Strickland doesn't really play to much. Hmm I wonder why that is....... BECAUSE WE FUCKING HAVE KYLE WILSON!!!!!! Stop complaining about Bullshit
Take a lithium and calm down. Be pissed at schotty. He's earned your ire. But cut the fairweather bullshit. You sound completely unhinged. If you take the actions of a group of complete strangers playing a game for a living that seriously, you should just bandwagon whichever team is on top. The lions bandwagon is just pulling away....you can still get a ticket. /GFY drama queen
