I know a lot of you aren't going to agree and, yes, he was brought in and not signed...but with the injury to Thomas, I'm pretty surprised Banta-Cain isn't on the radar. I know he's a boom-or-bust guy, and more of a pass rusher than a run stuffer, but imho, he'd be a fit here. Just to point out, because of the injury, because I was fine with him not being signed the first time around.

#Jets also worked out vet TE Brad Cottam today. Cut WR Campbell and TE Webb from practice squad: source.

I've been told Jets aren't going to sign free agent OLB Tully Banta-Cain right now. Would have been interesting twist to add former Patriot

No matter what, the Jets are brining in a Jumbo TE.

A blocking TE would be a plus but it's almost Wednesday and we still have ZERO DEPTH on the line----I will say it again I am shocked that we have not signed anyone to add depth ---totally shocked

I'm also amazed that its already Wednesday we have made 0 moves to try and improve the blocking situation or the BT injury. I really don't want to think that the FO believes all the answers are in house....because I know I sure as shit don't.

Rex already addressed the Bryan Thomas situation.

Maybin, Westerman, Mauga, and McIntyre will rotate at the position.

I hope Mauga and Maybin get the majority of the reps.

    Definitely.

I'm expecting Bart Scott to come off the field quite a bit too.

Steelers signing bodies to play on the off line --Dolphins bringing guys up to play on the line and the Jets are sitting ,,,,,,,,,,,guess they think things will miraclulously get better this week----I hope so because the Pats will not be as generious as the Ravens were, if they get us down they will not sit on the lead and run the ball--THEY WILL RUN IT UP if they can!

Shocked that we are not adding depth after these past 2 weeks---I am absolutely blown away!

it would be nice to see the jets signed (INSERT FLASHY OLD GUY NAME HERE) but there isnt much available.

the Saints, and ex Giants guys are in worse shape physically(i bet) than Nick Mangold was last week.

I think we will sign some clown next week though.

If Pace is out Sunday (way too early to know I know) how does this change the thinking?

Strickland, and Trufant are going to be out Monday against Miami most likely.

I think Strickland is 100% with a concussion. Trufant pulled a hamstring I think.

Hopefully Lankster doesnt screw up on specials.

John Conner has to get his shit together, or say bye bye.

People around here will shit if we bring in Lousaka Polite. This may just be a scare tactic by the front office to get Conner's attention. Mehta seems to think the Jets are trying to beef up, but Polite is actually the same size as Conner.

Conner's true value is on specials.

He has to become a better receiver out of the backfield if he wants to start in this league.

*Actually, now that I think about it, wasn't Polite more of a short yardage back in Miami? He could be signed as a short yardage specialist.

Polite consistently came through on short yardage plays and caught balls out of the backfield. I wouldn't mind bringing him in and using Conner/Polite as a rotation. I think Conner played way better last year when he wasn't playing on every down. He's still only a second year player, there's nothing wrong with bringing him along slowly.

I realise that I'm not the most astute reader of the game, but has Conner really got too much wrong? Other than the drop on Sunday I can't remember him being badly at fault and I'm not convinced that the stuttering running game is really down to him not doing his job.

He goes for the knockout blow too often and sometimes whifs on blocks. I don't see any major flaws in his game though.

I've been thinking about the Polite signing for a few minutes now and he's either being signed to be a short yardage back or the staff is just picking his brain about the Dolphins' blocking schemes.

He was a great blocker and an awesome short yardage back. I was in fact very surprised he wasn't signed on with a team to start the year considering he had(Or actually might still have) a sick 3rd down and short conversion streak when he was with Miami.

I don't think he's much of a catching threat but he's a really good short term runner and blocker.

I think this move might be more to pick the brains of him more than anything though but I would welcome the deal.

We've officially signed Lankster to a one year deal. Sucked in the preseason minus one pick 6. I'm hoping he doesn't see the field too much.
