Jumping in late here but just wanted to add my buck fitty. This year the Bucs have a much tougher schedule and as expected Freeman is not performing nearly as well/putting up those great stats. 2 TDs, and 4 INTs, and 2 Fumbles. (not lost though) He's got 6 less attempts than Mark, but 204 less yards. On top of that, Josh's run game and blocking have been helpful to him, where with Mark they've been hurtful. They beat Atlanta in spite of Josh not because, of Josh. I expect this trend to continue.
Freeman continues his resume to prove that he is better than Sanchez today by adding 2 more interceptions to his other 4. Oh and 0 TD again.
Blount doesn't count as a weapon. He has absolutely no value in the passing game. Earnest Graham, on the other hand, is an excellent pass catcher when they choose to utilize him. He had, IIRC, about 50 receptions in 2007 or 2008. He's just been underutilized due to injury. Either way, point stands. Freeman's weapons are just fine. Benn's been hurt and underachieving, but Preston Parker doesn't look bad at all. Of course, it's easy for people to say "He has no weapons" when his weapons are almost all young and have only played with Freeman. There's no basis for comparison for any of those guys outside of Winslow.
What are Sanchez's weapons, Holmes? Burress is nothing special right now. Dustin Keller is home grown talent and so is Jeremy Kerley. Lets face it, Freeman sucks. ESPN even said this guy was top 10, top 10 my ass. Maybe top 10 in the CFL, but even that's a bold statement.
Freeman was a top 10 QB last year. 23 TD, 6 Int, with players that are all young and inexperienced, that's a good job. He's definitely regressed this year. And his weapons are only okay. Williams is good, but he has regressed just like Freeman. Benn looks good in flashes, but you can't call him a good WR yet. Parker seems like a decent slot guy thus far. Lot of youth over there. That said, it's not as if Sanchez is lighting it up either. Neither QB is playing very well. Sanchez has been to and played pretty well in 4 playoff games, while Freeman actually has one very good 16 game season under his belt. Both count for something.
Josh Freeman is in in the middle of a sophomore slump (being the full time starter, i know he's a 3rd year player) maybe it's because there's more film on him or maybe it's just because people take the bucs seriously now. either way, he doesn't have a good supporting cast at all. Kellen Winslow's best days are behind him/always injured, Mike williams played out of his mind last year but he's starting to play like a 5 round pick again. Blount is useless in the passing game. preston parker is their best receiver right now i believe. who? yeah..... Freeman can play. you don't put up those kind of numbers (td to int ratio), lead a team to 10 wins in a tough division, and make a shitton of 4th quarter comebacks if you suck. he'll get better but he's regressed certainly
the defense is why the jets win, not because of sanchez. sure he's played well in the playoffs, but it's the defense that makes this team who they are. to suggest that sanchez is better than freeman and stafford is laughable. they both have had the shackles taken off of them and are far more than just game managers.
Sanchez is the highest paid QB in the NFL this year and has the third highest base salary of any player (damn those old style rookie contracts). He is on about twice as much as Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers and nearly three times as much as Tom Brady. He is getting paid 14 times as much as Josh Freeman this year. No wonder he always looks upbeat and happy after the game despite playing badly.
