Is there a realistic replacement for Schotty RIGHT NOW?

What boggles my mind is that Rex Ryan being a defensive "genius," doesn't he look at tape of the other team's defense and pass on tips to Schotty? Is there even any communication there? Or is Schotty just on his own making his own game plan? I mean does this team even create their offensive game plan based on the opponent's strengths and weaknesses? I feel like they never do.

Callahan or Cavanaugh would make sense. Callahan has actually coordinated successful offenses in the NFL.

they self scout once a year during the season if i recall. it's usually during the bye week.

i'm sure there's communication but as far as flat out working in conjunction, i think schotty has a good bit of autonomy unfortunately

Agreed. Rex needs to take a page from Beli on that one. He meets with Brady every week during the season to review how their next opponent will try to stop them.

I want Brian to step up, do the right thing, and tender his resignation today. No one is going to fire him. He has to know that he has lost the faith of not only the fans, but more importantly he has lost the faith of the team.

I can only remember one time i was ecstatic that someone (either GM or coach) was fired/stepped down.....

and that was when Dolan finally canned Scott Layden.

This would be the other time.

Callahan is the obvious choice; familiar with the system, and with a track record of success.

Tom Moore is the obvious choice. Nobody in the current fold would do and I hear Moore wants to coach again next year anyway.

Somebody in the Jets organization either diddled some kids or killed somebody and Schitty has proof of it. Only possible explanation for such an unimaginative, untalented, dimwitted human being to continue to occupy the OC position with the Jets. His daddy's name got him the job but he must know where some bodies are buried for him to still have it.

    Fuck you, Schottenheimer. Fuck you.

It's so embarrassing to be a Jet fan sometimes. Does Brian deserve his share of the blame? of course but to act like we would magically be a great offense w/ a different OC you guys are kidding yourselves. We didn't lose b/c of playcalling yesterday(again), we lost b/c we failed to execute- how many dropped passes did we have? I hear complaints about the 3 and outs well on a few of them we had easy 1st downs if pases were caught or thrown well. It's about execution, the O took some baby steps yesterday. I think this O will be fine, it's asinine to blame the struggles all on one man.

I honestly don't even remember more than five or six dropped, catchable passes (this does not count fastly-thrown balls to Plax and Holmes). The problem was more of the runs up the gut and not to the outside, the constant throwing short of the 1st down marker on 3rd down, not using Tomlinson on 3rd downs (short screens or dump-offs) when he has been doing well at that role all season, etc etc.

It's the inconsistency of Schotty that drives Jet nation up a wall. And when he's consistent, he's doing it in all the wrong ways.

nyjunc, bullet to your head, when asked if you want Schotty to stay or not, what would you say?

W/o a doubt stay. brian is part of the problem right now but I'm more concerned about lack of execution than playcalling.

    So....no combination of both factors?
Junc, you make a valid point, but I'm not typing what I wrote in 2 other threads again.

I agree there were a FEW dropped plays. But seriously, how many times on third down did we call a play where it was a pass and the guy turned 2,3,4 yds short of a first down. Hoping to break a tackle or something. WTF?? We do this ALL the time, and Shotty thinks if it works once its awesome. I HATE our playcalling. Sure the playcalling isn't the end all be all (we can't stop the run, O line, etc), but it is seriously lacking and hurting.

Tom Moore, if you can get him to come on board. Charlie Weis if not.

Fire him after the Chargers game, and you have the bye to work things out. This is a joke

    The dolphins are terrible...

All you gotta do is throw throw throw throw throw Then in the 2nd half, do a heavy dosage of run and thats it...

You all lose next week and Rex should resign. We are terrible.

It's his job to get them to execute. Week in and week out for the past 6 years these guys aren't prepared to execute the gameplan. I'm pretty skeptical that we've had 6 years of shitty offensive rosters and a genius OC. He gets to pick the guys he wants to execute his gameplan, so he's either a really shitty talent evaluator or a shitty teacher because none of his offensive teams have done jack shit in his whole tenure here.
