I texted my dad this. This same exact thing happened in the AFC championship. It's happened a ton and for this big bad defense it should not be happening.
Fine...but what about the game against the steelers last year when the Jets defense also failed to get the ball back in a similar spot? That cost us a trip to the superbowl. Read the WHOLE THREAD....I clearly stated I blame the offense today but the defense did pull something today that they are known for....inability to get the ball back late when we have a chance to win or tie. This thread is not so much about today's game as much as it is this defense as a whole.
This defense is garbage. How many 100 yard rushers have they now allowed? At least 3-4. Pitiful. They couldn't stop a nose bleed.
Do not agree Witherspoon you. If we would have completed the first 3rd downs in the 1st quarter the rhythm of the offense and the TOP would look completely different. Our curse is that we have a 50-60 pro cent accuracy, which means that 3 and outs are inevitable half of the times. The d is always completely exhausted by the time of 4q AND there is complete transparency on the blitzes as everything is used up.
We can still make the playoffs. Our passing game still needs work. But our 3rd-and-long defense continues to suck for a third consecutive season. That and the penalties are f***ing killing us. F***!
The Jets had 10 drives the entire game. 8 of the first 9 were 3 and out. You try and stop the run in that situation.
The Aaron Hernandez drop TD as well on another poor coverage job by this piece of crap defense also gave 7 points back. The offense, defense, and coaching sucks. The only bright spot on the entire team is the special teams this year....
you cant blame the defense when the offense posts something like seven drives resulting in a 3 and out. especially when the defense produces their own 3 and outs. pats were given a couple penalties today which were huge, literally given. my entire life of playing and watching football i have always known it to not be a penalty if the defender gets there at the same time as the ball. or when the receiver runs into the back. or when their legs get tangled up. the defense did a great job for most of the game. the offense laid an egg on the field for the millionth time and guys on the defense are losing faith. its plain to see, they are tired of worrying whether or not the offense can score, they need to get that swagger back, the confidence that their offense isnt a liability likely to lose the game for them regardless of how well the defense plays.
If you guys want to say you had confidence in our D on 3rd and 4 with the game on the line your lying to yourself. Sent from my HTC Evo 3D using Tapatalk
Who thinks defenses don't get tired because the offense puts them on the field constantly? Raise your hand.
It's just whiners after a loss. It's true the D isn't big time. They gave up 30. End of story. A big time D doesn't give up 30.
I'm getting older, and my memory isn't what is was, so can someone remind me the last time Rex Ryan's vaunted defense made a stop in a game deciding situation? Cause I can't for the life of me remember the last time that happened.
There's plenty of blame to go around. Yes, the defense were tired because they had played most of the game, but no it's not ok to let New England walk down the field without putting up a fight when we've just pulled within a score. It would have been a superb effort to stop them and get the ball back, but that's what we needed and they didn't provide. It is certainly a theme.
I can remember week 2 of 2009 against the Patriots. Minnesota last year and Denver the following week maybe?
I am glad to see that I am not alone on this one....because I tend to get flamed a lot for pointing out legitimate concerns. Most of today's flamers can't seem to comprehend that I wasn't really just talking about today's game but this is also why we lost the AFC title game.
I was thinking the same thing, but still think all and I mean all our problems rests with the offense. Maybe it is the oc or the qb, but this showings ( actually the last 3 yrs showings) doesn't reflect well on either of them.
Ooooooooo a 130 and a certified TEACHER??? Whoaaaa!!!! You need to be super smart to be a teacher!!! Whoaaa!!!! Congrats on having an "above average" IQ. I'm sure the 4th graders you teach are very impressed. I am not, however. I did read your post, and I stand by my opinion that you don't know what you are talking about.
Umm.. 2. 5 in 3 years under Rex Ryan. Want to try again, genius? If nobody can see that the Jets D was just gassed at the end, then I don't know what to tell you. You're probably teh same morons defending Schotty and his garbage offensive plan.
Well 130 is considered moderately gifted not "above average" but the pt is people shouldn't flame me and tell me I need to take an IQ test when I pointed out a legitimate concern. Let me ask you....in the AFC title game last year when the Jets drew within 5 pts and needed to get the ball back for one more chance...what did our defense do?
They were on the field 8 minutes more. Some of you act like it was an entire quarter more. They are NFL players that are suppose to be in NFL shape. Giving up a bunch of passing yards is expected with Brady but 140 rushing yards to Ellis? Come on. This defense is a bunch of posers.
