Deion wasn't better. QB's weren''t throwing for 300 yards every game when Deion played. You have to take context into account. What Revis is doing right now is like setting records for fewest homeruns allowed by a pitcher in an era where the ball is juiced and the players are too. I've criticized the Jets at times for their emphasis on perimeter players over the trenches but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate what Revis does on the field.
Well when a Pats fan comes into a thread about Revis' amazing stats so far this year and starts posting about which CBs were better than him and who you'd rather have on your team... I think you should expect a little backlash - just sayin.
Just an outstanding Cornerback. Do we put him on Welker?? I know he isn't suited for the slot, but I'd love to see how he does even if it means he gives up some yards. Somebody's gotta slow down that little bastard.
Why, yes. yes you are. In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion
I thought it would be fun to discuss football with our main rivals. I've tried to be respectful, not talk smack and to add to the discussion. From this point forward, I'll refrain from posting.
If you are going to be critical of Jets and say they aren't good, this week it would be better to go into a Vlad Ducasse thread, a Schotty thread, or something of the sort.....it's a little touchy this week but I see you are too......
Entering a topic that says 'Revis is having a great season' and then trying to get attention saying "Sanders is better" in the 7th post is an attempt to derail the topic and get attention.
Well, that's his opinion. He's failed to back it up with sufficient reasoning, though. I don't think there are stats on Sanders' coverage duties like there are on Revis, but I'd be surprised if he erased guys, both physical and speedy, like Revis has. Sanders gets a lot of hype because of his return skills as well.
Totally agree until you mentioned return Skills. Revis was a great punt returner at Pittsburgh. We don't use him because its not worth the risk. Also, Revis is on a different level when it comes to tackling. Also, defending WRs is totally different now a days than it was in the 90s and earlier. 5-yard rule, defenseless receiver, and all the QB protection giving him much more time than back in his days. U factor all those in, and you have probably the best CB of all time in Revis and I don't think he has reached his prime yet, which is scary.
Revis is amazing, however, if anything his stats plus the Jets record prove that a CB in the NFL shouldn't make a ridiculous salary.
No, the best corner in the league deserves to make the best money amongst corners. Also, Revis did win us a game with his pick week one. And he hasn't lost us a single game for the Jets, before u bring up Cromartie's 2 pick performance.
On the bright side Nnamdi Asomugha's next contract was based on what Revis signed with the Jets and not what Al Davis chose to pay him to keep him in Oakland. Imagine how screwed we'd be right now if the Jets had buckled and given Revis 16 mill a year. Note also that the Eagles, who got Asomugha, are 1-3. Great cornerbacks are valuable but they're not as valuable as great defensive linemen and pass rushing OLB's.
