while we're (rightfully) killing the OL ... & yes, only 1 Balt TD When KW was drafted, a lot o' folks chirped that the Jet "D" was set-in-stone because their CB's (Revis-Cro) were a guaranteed lock-up vs. WR's and that KW could eventually learn the "3rd" responsibility locking up the slot receiver (read: Welker 'east-west' crossing) -- I was on board with that. KW got thrown into the fire with the Revis holdout and all and I got that as well. (Balt=10; Jets=9). No big deal. Btw, kid's progressing. and yet,..while I still chirp that same Revis-Cro coverage scheme totally works for me thus far in 2011, combating the NFL-wise great passing attacts (NE, GB, NO--phuck HOU/SD), I humbly still wish our "D" was more about a "D" that an opposing QB's health would be his primary concern going into a game vs. the Jets. And Rex' genius schemes aside, that's less-and-less a concern it seems. If only the Jets were about: KILL the QB. (as good as Revis-Cro are). O: protect Sanchez D: KILL their QB While the blame-focus is on Baxter, Hunter et al...and btw, I'll still take Mark Fuckin' Sanchez and a decent OL thank you in a heartbeat, turning towards the DL, the Jets' supposed "shut your running game down" defense, DeVito (gritty=average), Pione (gritty=average), the NYJ seem to have nobody that forces a double team outside of the rookie M.Wilkerson the way I see it. Re-watch the "clash" at the line of scrimmage vs. Baltimore when the ball is snapped.....be honest, we had all too often no push off the DL beyond contact, again all too often. There is no need for the opponent's OL to adjust a double-team geared towards our "3-4 space-eaters" so as to free up blitz lanes from other lanes....and from there, what can Rex do? He can invent just so much...just my 2 cents. That "D" line hit Balt's OL.. and it was ...all too often... splat=stagnant. And this against a QB, Flacco, who is not an elite QB (sucks) imho. Don't get me wrong, our "D" was anything but chopped liver on Sunday night, but at the same time, it wasn't a "Rex" D that was gonna take a 24-14 loss and turn it into a 17-24 win because of the "D" -- much like the Raven's "D" did. Again, only sayin' I love the grit...but Rex can't make chicken salad out of what is essentially gritty, but eventually ordinary DL's....w/not-so-speedy LB's (to cover/blitz?) notwithstanding. ...and of course, come this weekend Sanchez will thrown for 300+ and the Jets will expose the NE's non-d for what it is and claim a 28-21 1st place win...wtf ;-) oh & jmho.
I agree with you. I think they mishandled him when they pulled him out of the game. But the kid shows toughness and intensity and he does not back down to anyone.
Well I mean Brick has been here for a while too... But Jenks is right, somebody on the OL should have learned the calls as the backup. Especially if Turner was the only other guy who knew them. When he broke his leg, somebody in the offensive staff meetings should have mentioned it and got somebody else on the OL learning those calls just in case. Hopefully Nick is back this week. If not, the positive is the Patriots are a weak pass rushing team, who do not excel at fucking with OL and QB's in the same way the Ravens do. As to the Heart comment, I think Jenks was clearly talking about himself, J-Co and T-Rich. We all know Jenks played with more heart than just about anybody in the NFL, if his ACL's had been a little stronger, I firmly believe we have a ring right now. T-Rich was the go-to vocal guy in the offensive huddle. LT is stepping into his shoes, but lets face it, it's hard as hell to lead from the bench, which is where he is until 3rd down. J-Co wanted out, but he sure as fuck was the quiet leader who just showed up and did his thing always. Everybody looked to him as an example, and nothing showed his heart more than the fucking Cleveland catch, you all know exactly what I'm talking about. Then there's Woody. He was your vocal leader on the OL, Moore/Brick/Nick are lead by example guys. There just isnt a vocal "What the Fuck is going on!" guy anymore. Big Wood hurts us there. We let them all walk for age/injury concerns. Woody and Jenks retired for their reasons after we cut them. Doesn't mean we don't miss them in the locker room. All of that said about leaders lost, Mason prolly said it best. I don't know who the fuck is gonna stand up and say it, but somebody damn well better or we are going to continue to suck. I'm looking to Tone and Pouha, guys Rex made captains for just this fucking reason. When shit goes wrong, they are the guys we need to stand up and say something, because we need to get it fixed, and now if we want a shot to stay competitive. Glad to know every player on the fucking team (past and present) wants Schotty gone.
Oh my God!!!!! Kris Jenkins said bad things about the Jets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111 JoeNamathfiller
Jenkins actually said things of substance. Namath was just rambling about preperation which he has no knowledge of.
It sounds like he is saying that the only problem with the OL is that nobody knows the line calls now that Mangold and Turner are both out. The OL wasn't that great either for the first two games when Mangold was in. The game against Dallas Sanchez was getting killed too from both sides. The running and passing were a tad better the first two games with Mangold in but nowhere near as good as last year. So I think there are more problems than just nobody knowing the line calls. Shotty has definite a lot to do with it. When the opposing defense knows the plays that are coming it's that much harder to get those plays to work. Shotty should have been fired with Mangini. Rex kept him because he didn't want to bother with the offense. Maybe he never understood what being a HC means. You are responsible for the whole team not just the defense. Things will never get better as long as Shotty is here.
I know how Sutton feels about the players Tanny has gotten for the O-Line. My wife brought home groceries last night....VEGETABLE LASAGNA!!! WTF???? I'm a carnivore bitch! Go kill me a pig.
I find what Jenkins said reassuring, if anything. That the OL were fucking up the calls is much more comforting than them just flat out getting manhandled. Maybe they were, for a bit, but I think a lot of the breakdowns were probably from these calls getting fucked up, and guys not knowing their responsibilities. These issues are correctable.
Yes but Wayne Hunter is still useless so we're not going to have any kind of dominating OL when Mangold comes back...just a less shitty one. Firing Schotty would be a good start at least.
Hahahaha. Kris Jenkins is saying things that we all know. People are so ready to blame Sanchez for all of our problems, thinking that if we plug in another QB they'll somehow be able to make this offense work. Well, we've had Pennington and Favre come through here and struggle with the offense. Schottenheimer needs to simplify the offense and use what works. He needs to focus on getting the running game going and using the passing game to stretch the field. He needs to get all of these guys prepared for Sundays, so we can actually start off hot and dominate. It's blows my mind to think that EVERY single year since he's been the coordinator that the offense looks like a hot mess at the beginning of most games. It's definitely a preparation thing, he's not getting these guys ready to execute on Sundays.
I do agree with that, but I find it a little hard to believe that no one else knows the calls. I get that Turner is the backup center, but he obviously wasn't playing, get someone else up to speed! That's a failure that the coaching staff has to take a hit on, if that is true. As for this season, yes, that would mean that the issues are more correctable. I'm hoping that the OL's issues are mostly because of how good DeMarcus Ware is week 1. But it was so bad the last 2 weeks that it's hard to believe that one man really makes THAT much of a difference that it goes from one of the best ones to an awful one. Still, we would still have Hunter, who isn't blocking well, period, and Moore doesn't seem 100%. For the sake of this season, I hope Mangold does make that much of a difference though. Obviously, the line will be a lot better, but without a blocking tight end, we take a hit there, as well as at RT. I'm glad we're looking at backup blocking tight ends this week.
Jenkins is a god. He needs to be on our coaching staff. For all those Schotty lovers out there go follow him to whatever community college he winds up at next year. McGrath got bitch slapped:rofl:
Unlike Namath, this is a guy who played on THIS team, under THIS regime, with THESE players, as recently as 1 year ago. He knows what he is talking about, and you better believe he speaks for a lot of players, especially on the defensive side of the ball. There have been numerous current and former players who have come out in the past few days to basically roast Shittenheimer and his offensive system. Jenkins was right, Sanchez didn't play well, but the guy was running for his life all game and there were no adjustments made at all to help him out. They rolled him out one time and sent out 1 receiver on the route according to him. That is unacceptable. You know damn well many players on the team feel the same way and Jenkins is just putting putting it out there. He isn't the only one either.. Clowney had his tweets, and Damien Woody had very similar tweets to what Jenkins said. Not to mention Holmes, LT, and Sanchez himself all saying something about the O being predictable. These guys like Jenks and Woody gave everything they had to this team, and to sit back and watch it all fall apart hurts them, and you can tell by the passion they have with what they say and write. It sucks to know things should be done differently but to see Shittnehimer continue to do the same crap. And you know these guys felt the same way when they were playing, they just weren't able to say it.
