I don't see much in terms of OLBs and OTs in free agency. WR is deep but I'm having a difficult time seeing this team expending much cash at that position after giving Holmes a big contract last offseason. The Chiefs might let Dwayne Bowe go, who I see as the best possible fit across from Holmes, but he's going to be receiving big money from someone.

The one guy I'd like to see us go after (even though he doesn't directly fill a need) is Ben Grubbs. He would be an automatic upgrade over Slauson, who would then be relegated to the bench (where I think he belongs). This would both improve us at a starting position and improve our depth. It's probably a pipedream but Grubbs is the best available player that we could reasonably go after (in my opinion).

Slauson is a solid guard I don't see us getting rid of him at the LG position unless he somehow learns to play RT.

The Jets are in a tough position because there are big time FA WRs and big time draft names at the position as well, which means they have too make the righ choice for our team. I said in a bunch of other threads that the Jets WILL address one of the threes needs at RT, WR, or OLB.

I'd love to see us sign a guy like Lloyd, Manningham, or Bowe (would be a tough one though) then draft a WR in the 2nd or 3rd like Sanu, Criner, Childs, or Dwight Jones. Draft a RT in the 1st. Sign a OLB like Cliff Avril and draft another OLB in the 3rd or 4th like Johnathan Massaquoi. That too me would completely overhaul and revamp our team while not exactly destroying our wallets.

I watched Sanu in this weekend. He killed us. Did you see that 1 handed grab on the sideline??

I saw that it was just nuts, and on the replay it was even more spectacular. He's making an case to be a early day 2 draft choice.

Sanu has good potential as a possession receiver in the NFL.

Childs' stock is dropping like a rock right now. He has lost his confidence, can't hang on to the ball, and is still nicked up. Tyler Wilson has seen that and has moved on to the other 3 WRs, which have all had big games at one time or another this year...

Too be honest I haven't watched much of Childs this season but it's most likely because I've barely heard much about him... This draft is full of solid WRs all around though, if Childs stock continues too drop and we could get him in the 3rd or maybe even 4th Id see great value. But the kid has great body control, solid route running, and good hands, if he improves again he can get back to that late 2nd round grade IMO.

I like a lot of WRs better than him but later on in the draft he'd be a steal.

Thanks for your contribution to this thread.

Unfortunately with the way this year is going I doubt we're going to be able to fill our pipe dream and trade up for a top WR in the draft. Our needs are too great. I'd be all for signing Manningham to compliment Holmes. He'd be a reasonable price for his potential and skill-set.

Mario Williams ain't gona happen. Wade Phillips/Gary Kubiak will not let their stud LB go. OLB should be our Rd 2 pick after OL in the first.

Call me crazy but Rex/Tanny may give up on Shonn Greene if he doesn't pick it up this season and we'd be looking at having to draft another RB in 2012. I know our OL blows like Jenna Haze this seaon but Greene has shown nothing in terms of being capable of handling feature back duties.

Really? You think we should get Mario Williams? What makes you think we should sign the best OLB/Pass Rusher in the game?

    1) Carl Nicks
    2) DeSean Jackson
    3) Matt Forte
    4) Cliff Avril

Nicks would be awesome. Top-3 guard in the NFL. He's pretty young and would seriously upgrade our line.

DeSean would be a great deep threat for Sanchez.

Forte is an obvious one, but I worry about his carries and signing a FA RB.

Avril is very underrated and young.

If even one of those guys is not resigned I will be completely and totally shocked. That said, everyone, except maybe Nicks should be top targets for us if they do get free. The only reason i may exclude Nicks is because of Slauson and Moore. If we decide one can't hack it (Slauson) or that Moore has lost a step (i still think the injury is holding him back) we should look at him. Otherwise, we need a RT in the worst way.

Now that I think about it, I would avoid Forte too. We just drafted a rb in 3 straight seasons. I think it's time we let those guys play and prove it. Even if they demote Shonn Greene (think Steve Slaton in Houston) the other two should be able to play ball. If we somehow managed to miss on all 3 guys, thats just plain fucking stupid and retarded of our scouting staff.

But Cliff Avril is probably a perfect option for our OLB issues. Great pass rushing threat, i think he could transition to standing without too much problem. He'd be a liability in coverage, but then again, so would a rookie. Obviously if Mario Williams hits the market, you go after him harder than anything you can think of. But the only way that happens is if he flat out refuses to sign an extension in Houston.

D-Jax would obviously give us the big play receiver we have been missing since, well forever. I still would prefer a big tall physical receiver (V-Jax?) to compliment Holmes though.

As great of a player as Desean Jackson is I really don't think he fits this offense, especially since we just resigned Holmes.

Forte will be resigned and we already have our 3 rbs.

Cliff Avril is going to finally start getting some credit this year, so there are three problems here.
    1) The lions will probably resign him
    2) He will ask for lots and lots and lots of money
    3) Do we really want to spend alot of money for a player that has to switch to a new position?
