You won't see Wilson on Welker..most likely they will play a zone like they did in the playoffs and either Cromartie or Revis will be part of it. Welker is their top guy and the rest are basically there to take up space.

I don't think you will see that zone played this week like we did in the playoff game. It worked last year but I'm sure NE will be much more prepared for it so I suspect Rex and Pettine will attack them differently this time around.

It's actually a combo of both man and zone.

We'll definitely see Wilson on Welker, why the F do you think we drafted the guy? He's becoming our slot specialist. Yeah, we'll see zone coverage, like every single team in every single game in the NFL, we'll see zone coverage. Seriously, don't tell the brother of the guy that the thread is about what the guy isn't going to do. You're already in danger of winning Least Knowledgeable again.

We almost had an answer for Welker (Strickland) in 2009 until he got drilled into July by a Pats O-lineman, so they went out and got a guy that they thought could take the slot man off his timing routes. That barrage of zone coverage in the playoffs was a temp fix, not the standard.

Yes, I agree, it can't be the same as they will prepare for that this time. I'm not sure what it will be but they killed us in that Monday night game when we tried to play a straight man to man.

If Wilson is all we have for Welker then expect him to have another 200 yard game.

And least knowledgeable is a honor here with people like you doing the voting.

    I wouldn't be surprised to see Revis-Welker, Kyle-Branch, Cromartie-Gronkwoski.
I certainly don't expect it to be that cut-and-dried, but it's (usually) moments like this when our DC staff shine, and I certainly expect Kyle to have another good game. He's been one of the best (certainly, most consistent) players on the defensive side of the ball.

Zero chance Wilson is on Welker. If they want to lose, then it's possible.

yeah, lol, I was kind of hoping he doesn't. There's no way we're having LBs and Eric Smith covering either of your TEs. Not exclusively, at least, I would imagine. Rex and Pettine both know what's at stake, and I think they'll be very creative on Sunday.

I think losing the brains of our defense is what did us in. I'm refering to Leonhard.

I'm going on a limb and saying that Revis is the guy who will be covering Welker, perhaps with some safety help over the top. I don't see Wilson covering him alone, Cromartie can take care of Ochocinco and Wilson can take Branch or a TE. We can't afford to have Wilson on Welker, that'd be suicide.

Wilson's bump coverage in 2 seasons has improved more than Cromartie's in his entire career. He disrupts hand movement and impedes routes well and that's a big part of what you need to do to kill a timing-based inside attack like the Pats have. He's also gotten better at recognizing plays developing behind the LOS for screen-style attacks, he's always where when they're developing.

I don't know if he's really up to what they're going to throw at him this weekend, but what we're going to see from New England this weekend is a big reason why he was drafted, bet your ass on it. It's also much different than what beat us last Sunday night.

Rex put Revis on Welker during 45-3 and Belichick took Revis out of the game every time by motioning Welker inside and attacking the flanks of our defense. Belichick isn't stupid, and neither is Rex. I would be very surprised if we saw Revis on Welker for any significant amount of time this weekend.

Welker is the hottest WR in the league right now. Revis will be on him, I would think mostly. I think Wilson can handle Ocho or Branch. But, I already said, it's not going to be that cut-and-dried. They're going to consistently change things up. These 2 guys know the ins and outs of everything. It's going to be a good game. I think10 points is a ridiculous spread for this game.

Exactly Revis is best on the outside. Welker didnt burn us in the monday night game but he didnt have to. Without Leonhard the rest of our secondary was out of place the whole game and he picked them apart. Wilson will be a huge reason for our success or failure this weekend. He needs to be physical with Welker and jam him all game except for maybe the couple plays Rex will put Strick or Revis on him to switch things up.

Bigger problem is Eric Smith covering a TE, he's bound to get toasted.
