What are you guys thinking in terms of FA need based on who will be available and then supplementing needs in the draft?

I'd go after Mario Williams and Matt Forte and draft OL in the first. Thoughts?

I'd take Blackmon if I could too.

Mario Williams will be re signed and demand a big contract, Forte will be franchised or signed to a new deal since he wants to be a bear, OLine could be either drafted or addressed in FA although Im not sure I see too many competent tackles.

Blackmon won't be on the jets. Period. He is too good of a player and should go in the top 5. The Jets have a better chance at Alshon Jeffery who is having a down year thus far but even he will most likely be taken in the top 10 or so.

I think we draft a WR most likely but if there is a big time WR out there like Bowe, Lloyd, or Wayne not franchised by their team I could see the Jets going after one of them.

Mario Williams is going to make bank. We'd have to cut Pace to bring in him. I'd be all for it.

We need a possession guy opposite Holmes - Bowe and V-JAX would be nice compliments. Floyd, Jeffery, and Fuller would be too though.

Hillis would be an upgrade over Greene.

Cliff Avril is a heck of a pass rusher too.

Bring back Kareem McKenzie for RT!

I think we absolutely have to make a big push for Williams. That is the guy the Jets defense needs to be on another stratosphere

    He's not having a down year, Spurrier's having a down year as a play-caller.

The only thing that could hurt Alshon's stock is the 40.

Look at Julio Jones. If you get a receiver who's extremely talented, they can contribute immediately. It would be interesting to see the jets go WR early but this team should get back to the run game...worry about getting linemen to open holes for all our RBs.

Check that Forte comment I think McKnight has the same ability in terms of receptions.

To be honest, the majority of that list is awful, mostly overaged out of their prime vets.

I've been wanting Cliff Avril for sometime, he would be a great fit in our defense. Avril is still young and has a great attributes for Rex's defense.

Maybe Keller could convince him to sign, I've heard they're good friends.

The Jets need to start getting more draft picks and developing players. I'm tired of bringing over 30+ players that are on the downside of their career.

Not doubting his skills at all, trust me I love the kid, I'm just saying with his somewhat lowered stats than his previous some scouts might take that into effect. I agree though Spurrier is having a shit year and so is Garcia.

Call me crazy, I think Avril could be just as effective in our defense for a much lower price.

Your crazy! Hahaha. I like the Avril idea a lot though, hes solid against the pass and the run, he'd be a very complete LB although I'm not sure how he'd be in coverage.

And BTW I think Mario could do big this in this D but we aren't signing him, it'd be a nice thing to think about but he will see BANK..

If we tank we are going to be unloading a lot of money.

Also the FO needs to come to terms with the fact they cannot get by without a big time pass rusher. Pay him.

I am so adamant about this.

If I had to take a realistic/conservative approach to Free Agency 2012, I'd say:

    Tashard Choice
    Anthony Gonzalez
    Marques Colston
    Cliff Avril

Choice and Gonzalez are buy low free agents, but have the potential to be contributors, and I think New Orleans and Colston part ways for monetary, injury, and depth reasons.

I just have an unhealthy obsession with Avril, so of course he's gonna be on my list...

The Jets only have four of their own, LT, Pouha, Thomas and Leonhard. They will try and resign Pouha and Leonard.

    LT is gone
    Pouha will be back cheap
    BT is gone.
Leonard won't demand a big contract at all.

We should be more worried about bringing in solid players through FA and draft, our FA situation won't be even close to this past one.

^ Smith should get axed or bumped down on the depth chart and Leonhard should fill his role. We need new starting safeties.

Dbrickashaw is a FA as well.

Edit. I don't see him on the list in the link I posted but I saw him on another list. I dunno how accurate it is because I thought they extended him last year....
