Looks like BT is out for the season and IMO it's a huge blow for the run D. He was always a great run stopper and it looks like this was the last time we see him in a Jets uni. So here is the question, in your opinion, who's his replacement and why?
I think this has a platoon situation written all over it. Probably going to see more 4 down linemen sets and a mixture of Maybin, Westerman, Mauga, and maybe McIntyre.
Maybe Rex will try to dust off Adalius Thomas haha. Banta-Cain is probably a more realistic, albeit less exciting, option than Curry
BB couldn't wait to get rid of Banta Cain. I remember that guy missing tackles and assignments left and right the last couple of years he was in NE. He kept getting benched and then eventually released.And that was with richard seymour, ty warren, and wilfork up front eating up blockers
I accidentally clicked Curry on my phone. I think we should give Westerman and Mauga more playing time. I realize Mauga is an ILB, but BT wasn't really a passrusher either. He is replaceable.
No way Curry can learn the OLB position in the 3-4 and be ready to go Sunday. I would think we sign a guy to play running downs and then rotate Westerman/Maybin on passing downs.
In all seriousness, Aaron Curry is not a realistic option. There's no guarantee that he would be able to transition to a 3-4 (let alone a complicated defense like this one) and we'd have to give up draft compensation to get him. I suppose Tully Banta-Cain is a possibility but more than likely we're going to have to rely on guys that are already on the roster.
Man another one bites the dust. Not sure who to pick but agree it will probably be a platoon situation with as others suggested more 4-3, which will mean Kenrick Ellis may finally see some action.
