I love how livid he got after Sanchez threw that INT basically nulifying his potential game-changing sack fumble.
Maybin was a BIG part of your defense last night! Rex knew and smartly put in speed rushers against the Ravens OLine. A bull rusher gets stonewalled but speed is what handles the Ravens O-line.
He looked big enough to me. No need to add additional weight if it's going to negatively effect his performance.
I dont see the need for him to bulk up. Out of college he was billed as probably the best pure speed pass rusher available. If adding more weight detracts from his speed at all then id rather him keep his speed.
If he can just do what he did last night on a weekly basis everybody will be happy. I have heard he is no run stopper and I doubt you want him in coverage but he can make a career out of being a DPR.
He is one hyperactive sonofabitch. Watching him chase after and around Flacco was funny as Hell. Right now, he is just a one-trick pony - Go get the QB. There is no way I want him in there against the run, although he can't be that much worse than Westerman, who was getting pushed around all night. Losing BT for a couple of weeks could hurt.
He hustled. I'll say that much. But he's an easy assignment for a Tackle - kick out wide, push, keep him on the floor. He lost his balance 3 times with no one around him. I can't sit here and believe this kid is an answer. Not after one game. He's fast, and that's great. He may even get a sack. But he's not a savior. Rex should design a play so that he comes free to the QB. He's got the speed for it, as long as he doesn't trip on the turf. Seriously, he trips with no one around him.
I don't think it was a desperate move. We let him go cuz we thought he was a luxury to have on our roster with all the other LBs. But when a spot opened up on the roster, we grabbed him. Rex always liked him, just thought he wasn't a necessity. Now that he was visible for almost all the plays he was in, he will get a much longer look by the CS and be active for much more than a handful of plays.
He looked small out there to me and it isn't like he can't improve. He doesn't do a good job against the run now but he is young 22 so he will only get better.
reasonable assessment. He's a role player, almost a specialist. If he can be effective in pressuring the QB in 3rd and long situations, he's a welcome addition. Last night he was effective in that role, so hopefully we'll see more of that. I wouldn't expect much more than that though.
Unlike the rest of our D, he was visible on almost every snap he was in. You can't bash him for not getting five sacks, cuz if he doesn't trip, he'd get couple more sacks. His weakness is that he is quick and will often trip over making the cuts. Like it or not, thats all he has to offer this team.
