I think one of two things happened: 1. Walter poisoned the kid. 2. It's not the ricin that made him sick. Man, I was hoping Skyler would get sniped when she walked out onto the balcony. ...so much tension in that episode.
From What's Alan Watching, he usually has the best handle, take on an episode. He is also pipelined into Gilligan: What's Alan Watching
I think it's gotta be #2. It makes no sense for Gus to poison the kid (why go out of his way to kill a kid in a way that's easy to trace back to him, when Jesse has been slowly turning on Walt anyway?) And it makes no sense that Walt did it either--he's not a pickpocket, he couldn't have lifted the cigarette off Jesse during their brief confrontation on the lawn.
I would like to know how it makes no sense for Gus to kill the kid, especially when it makes 100% total complete sense....................
It makes 100% sense for both Gus and Walter to poison the kid. Walt needed Jesse back on his side. The only way was making Gus the bad guy again. Gus needed to show Jesse not to defy him again.
Planting the bomb at the hospital was stupid. He was able to get close to the car at Los Pollos Hermanos, and could have done so again.
It makes more sense for Walter. He knows if the kid dies, Jesse blames Gus. He knows if the kid isn't dead, Jesse will tell the girl it's ricin, the doctors will report it to DHS, back to Jesse, back to Gus....Family safe. Walter could have cooked some up at any point time.(Or kept some from the original batch). However, the only downside(From a story perspective) to that are Walt's whereabouts being solid up till this point in time.
You really think Gus is that stupid? He knows Hank is on to something. He probably has cameras all over that restaurant's parking lot after they were able to put the tracer on his car earlier.
It's such a stretch that Walt could pickpocket a the cigarette from Jesse without him noticing, and that Walt would then be capable of murdering a child because he's bitter about Jesse's actions. Why would Gus go through all the trouble of convincing Jesse of that, while simultaneously running the risk of turning Jesse against him forever? Wouldn't it be easier for Gus to just hire some Mexican guy to shoot Walt and tell Jesse that it was the last elements of the cartel trying to get revenge on him or something?
You're losing sight of something. The Show is about Walt's metamorphosis. There was the chick that choked on her puke, while he watched, then.... 'Run'..... This is just the next level. And is far more logical, than Gus mysteriously finding out, acquiring it, and using it. He lays out what Gus has done, to let you know that he is Becoming.
It is absolutely not more logical. In fact it is the opposite. Walt for all his faults has done what he has done to "protect" Jesse, his family and himself. It's all in the name of self preservation. Killing the kid preserves what exactly? Oh it gets Jesse to his side? Come on really? Sorry, I have seen nothing on this show that makes me believe that Walt would harm that kid before Gus. It is a known fact that Gus would have a kid harmed without hesitation............ Which leads me to this quote: No it would not be............Clandestine approach is the best bet and here is why: Why would Gus risk pissing Jesse off by putting a hit out on Walt? His operation stops, cold. He has nobody to cook without Jesse. It is so much easier to kill the kid. He wants Jesse's tacit approval to kill him. He seemingly knows their every move this season before they make it. He probably has Jesse's house bugged not too mention all the surveillance. So prior to the poisoning he knows about the fight and their tenuous relationship. He knows it all. It is such a logical move and one that is well within Gus's arsenal as we saw when he ordered Andrea's other brother killed. He has access to the cig's and access to Jesse's home, he knows when he is home, not home etc. Again the one and only thing Gus constantly gets wrong is Jesse and Walt's relationship................
I totally disagree. If Gus killed the kid, then his whole plan hinged on convincing Jesse that Walt pickpocketed the cig from him and killed a child out of spite. That is such a huge leap of faith that I find it unrealistic that a master planner such as Gus would rely on it.
