That's great. I'm glad that people are starting to realize that Sanchez really does suck and that we need to start looking to develop a new quarterback.

Don't know if you're the one who should be calling threads stupid after this brillant analysis.

First #28Martin tries to make it sound like he just had some brilliant insight into the team's woes. He acts like perhaps no one else has ever noticed that we have veteran leaders disappearing (even though this is probably the 100th thread on the subject).

When he's called out on the fact that he's a moron, he acts like he just found out that Joe Klecko and Ray Lewis said exactly the same thing. OH MY GOD, REAL FOOTBALL PLAYERS JUST MADE THE SAME POINT I DID. People continue to point out that it's been mentioned for more than a year.

So, of course, he turns around and admits that he only made the thread (and came up with his "brilliant" observation) because he heard it first on the post game.

We've lost OLD veterans. I was hoping Woody would come back, but anyone who listened to his show on Sirius NFL Radio on Tuesday nights could tell that he was done last season. He was ready to move into broadcasting and said as much. The others that you mentioned, with the possible exception of Thomas Jones, who wasn't much of a complement to Shonn Greene anyway, were all poorly equipped to continue to contribute to the team. You don't use a roster spot on a guy to watch him shake some pom poms in the locker room.

I too have thought about this and have always wondered how much of it has to do with labor relations and team/management interplay. Especially this year when there was a new CBA to be worked out. I can't help but think management wouldn't want too many team leaders with strong personalities in the locker room. I know we had just drafted Mangold but I think they couldn't wait to get rid of Mawae for that same reason.

#Jet fans have been spoiled by great OL play the past few years & now you're seeing the reality of what most teams look like up front

thanks for that cup of bitter reality, Damien.

That sucks.. but he is right.

We went from Brick - Faneca - Mangold - Moore - Woody all playing at a pretty high level (Faneca gave up sacks, yes, but he was also a great run blocker)

    to:

    Brick - Slauson - Baxter - Moore - Hunter

Hunter sucks, Slauson is average, and Baxter is a disaster. When Mangold comes back things will be better but still not nearly what we used to have. The loss of Woody is turning out to be much worse than any of us thought.

In the past, the Jets always had a history of cutting their union reps. From Clark Gaines to Marvin Powell to Johnny Lynn, even Kendall, they find a way to be on the outs with these guys. It got so bad back then that they started to try and make the guys the rep who were uncuttable or untradeable and those guys didn't want it.

Sure, but what reason did we have to think the loss of Woody would be this terrible? Hunter was perfectly fine when he had to take over for Woody last season.

First off, Ignatius, this is something i've said for months,,,, when it was reiterated by Klecko and Lucas, it seemed like something to say. Sorry if this topic isn't up to your high standards and thanks for making it personal.

They're wise asses. They dont' want to pay these guys anything unless they absolutely have to and felt like since they dumped Faneca and his big deal and Slauson ended up being ok, that they could that as the norm. And it backfired cause they aren't good guys with alot of these players, something i've been saying over and over again. Now if you don't accept that, that's your perogative but that's what it is. Cutting established guys for too many unprovens and it ultimately bites ya.

No, not the case. Gaines was a fourth year player. Powell, Lynn, all were in their 20's.... Kendall was a vet, yes.

I don't care about a Jets regime 20-30 years ago, nobody around now was around then. The last few guys you are whining about getting cut were both old and declining.

Well, GROUND AND POUND is all but gone cause they didn't want Thomas Jones back. And the OL absolutely bites cause they wanted to VET Minimum Woody. And I'll take T Rich everyday of the week and twice on Sunday over this Conner.

you really need a new schtick. this one is old and tired...JUST LIKE THE PLAYERS WE CUT.

what you "heard" on the radio is not the sentiment woody present late last season, and all offseason, when the decision was made.

What the fuck does any of that have to do with my question? Hunter played well last season when Woody was out. Why in the world would the team have thought he'd play any differently this year? Part of Woody's departure was due to Hunter's play last year.

Well they obviously overrated Hunter. You make a decent point in that Hunter played fine last year but now he's a joke. It's THERE JOB to determine if the guy is for real or just a 6 game wonder. They look like they blew it.
