I hear what you are saying....

The safeties are slow and don't make any plays. Eric Smith can hit, but he can't cover.
Leonhard is smart, but he's slow nd can't cover.

Unfortunately..the safety position should have been addressed in the draft, but they didn't. So let's move on.

The offensive line is the problem. Everyone agrees Ducasse is a bust, but again that's water under the bridge. That's on Tannenbaum and his staff. If it were up to me, I'd cut him. Send a message...and avoid another Gholston situation.

It's time to get back to running the ball. I think everyone wants Sanchez to get to the next level, but as long as the OL is a sieve, it just won't happen.

It's also time to forget Shonn Greene as a "factor" back, he's not cutting it. The Jets should do what New Orleans does..rotate the back and use them in the situation that fits them.

I'm sure getting Mangold back will help, but right now the line is too vulnerable.

Jets have 2 capable Safeties on roster. Emmanuel Cook#27 & Kyle Wilson #20.
Actually, they could & should be the starting Safety combo.....For this year.

Offenses have plenty of speed & defenses need speed also !!!

Ducasse is not a bust & will be a good road grater of a player. Its not his fault Jets drafted him so high. If he was a 5th or 6th round pick, we would be more patient with him. If u look closely, he's a really big guy with good feet. He just played against weak competition & its taking some time for him to pick up Pro game. He looks good on running plays & looks bad on pass blocking. Maybe Jets should use him like they did Rob Turner....as extra TE on running plays on short yardage. Try to break him in slow. Its the injuries & his elevated draft status that are forcing Jets to rush him into action before he's ready. Give him time.

On the quiet note...Nobody is talking about how LG Slauson is really very mediocre ??? Also, I don;t believe RG Moore is 100% recovered from his off-season surguries ??? Jets OL will look much better by week 7-8..barring more injuries. I hope they pick up a vet offensive lineman soon.

When Cromartie is on his game, I'm not as concerned with our sub-par safeties. Smith can hit like a mofo though.

As previously stated, O-Line repair should be our top priority. We got penetrated more than Paris Hilton.

Smith had one bad play last night, and that was the missed tackle on Rice where he had a long run after the catch. And he narrowly missed an interception when he slipped later on on a pass that was incomplete regardless. I thought he and leonhard actually played a good game, Jimmy had a nice swatted pass and Smith covered the Ravens' Smith well on one deep ball that flacco under threw.
