He also never had close to the team Sanchez has, but I see all of the same excuses for him. Not a Schaub fan, but getting rid of Carr was a great day.
Honestly I completely agree with you. Sanchez DID NOT take us to the AFCCG, he just went along for the ride. Yeah he did his part in some key situations but most of those games where he had game winning plays or drives could be attributed to GREAT CATCHES by Braylon and Holmes, and alot of YAC to go along with it. I am not saying Sanchez sucks, because the guy is taking an absolute beating behind this line, but I just don't see him as a good QB. And the OL argument is BS because if shotty wasnt such a deush and Sanchez knew how to READ the Defense and communicate this to his receivers he wouldn't HOLD the ball for so damn long or STARE DOWN every single target. Look at Peyton Manning obviously hes the greatest so im not comparing, but the guy makes the quick read and trusts his receivers. It looks like Sanchez is scared to make a mistake, or worried about pissing Burress off so he forces him 10 balls a game. The kid cant throw the deep ball and his only strength which was the short slant has disappeared. without play-action or a phenomenal line, the kid looks HORRIBLE, he was one hopping each of his passes, and has shown NO improvement at all. Its too bad it really is, our window is closing and its closing fast. Not a darksider but if you look at our upcoming schedule we have NE, MIA, SD, bye, BUF, NE. We could be in for a LOONNNG season. Im hoping im wrong but this is bad news. say what you want but how long can we all be in denial?
Biggest problem is o-line, which is Tannenbaum's fault. This isn't about Baxter, this is about Slauson, Moore, and Hunter. At least 2 of those three need to be replaced. Then you can start worrying about Sanchez and Schottenheimer.
This is the most idiotic thread I have ever read. After watching an OL make each passing play a complete jail break and seeing the QB have no time to throw at all, how can you blame the QB? Sanchez gets hit on every play. Add in the complete absence of a running game and how in the world is it the QBs fault? The fault with this season about to go down the toilet is the FO's failure to provide OL depth. With all the veteran OL that were there for the taking during FA, the Jets stocked up on unproven scrubs who are now forced to play and are getting our QB killed. Take a look at what is going on in front of him before you take the ignorant simplistic fan's view of always blaming the QB.
The Jets did not light up the scoreboard. What did they rank in total offense that year? Favre threw as many picks at TD's in this system, and had FAR worse numbers than he did either the year before or the year after, with 2 separate teams. Same goes for Chad Pennington who had a far better season after he left Shittenheimer's evil clutches. People need to wake up and realize Shittenheimer is a major problem. He isn't the only problem, but he's at the top of the list and it needs to be addressed.
I am afraid the answer is yes. Sanchez is pretty average at best and with no running game that can rack up 150+ yards/game, he won't be able to win many games. He does make beautiful throws sometimes but then a few minutes later he stinks it up with another stupid play.
I think you misunderstood me. You said I've probably never played sports, thats not true. However I admitted it does not come even close to comparable to the NFL. I never said to bench Sanchez or anything of the like, I've just been wondering the same thing that all Jet fans have been wondering since day one, is Sanchez our guy? I don't know, performances like this don't indicate he is. He's had some good games, but none this season, his third year. Am I wrong to worry about this guy? Did you go to USC or something? Maybe a cousin of his? This seems to be rubbing you the wrong way. The guy had a shit game, get real. Also, saying that Sanchez led the team to two AFCCG is false. He was a fairly small part of it. He played well enough for us to win, he didn't lead us anywhere, stop drinking the koolaid.
I am going to guess you have never played any organized football at any level. Don't worry, neither have I. However, the difference between you and I is that I understand the fundamentals of a passing offense. It doesn't matter who you put behind center, when your o-line is in shambles and there is no time to throw the ball, your QB will stink. After a few quarters of sustained pressure and multiple QB hits, all QBs start to "hear the footsteps." The same thing happened last year to Tom Brady - probably the greatest NFL quarterback of the past 20 years - in the NFL playoffs. The Jets hit him so often and disrupted his timing, that Brady was missing open receivers even when there was no rush because his internal clock was sped up. Flacco did the samething tonight as well. In fact, I would argue that Flacco had an even worse game than Sanchez as his o-line was intact, they had a respectable running game and a big lead. Even with those advantages, Flacco looked terrible. The way to beat the Ravens is to spread the field wide open and hit them with quick passes on the seams. It forces them to move out of their base defense, which is their strength, by replacing Lewis with one of their crappy DBs. The Jets could have done that if the o-line would have held up. However, I don't think anyone realistically thought Colin Baxter was going to hold up against Ngata & Company. When you play the Ravens base D, you want to hit them with counter and cut-back runs as the LBs have a tendancy to over-pursuit. You can pass against them as well, just don't throw to Reed's side of the field and try to isolate Lewis one-on-one with a RB. The Jets actually did that a couple of times but the o-line couldn't hold up. It all starts back with the o-line but with that in shambles, expecting anything than what we got is too much to ask.
hahah I didnt see this before I posted my rant. Please refrain from banishing me Mr. Insanity. :shit:
Stat watcher may say he has a good game. He will probably put up numbers. He is going to have to keep pace with the Pats. I expect happy feet, leaving the pocket to early, staring down receivers, and over throwing.
things aren't as bad as they seem. sanchez isn't elite as some here have been preaching. but he's not a bust either. his 1st two seasons was ground and pound and he's a very servicable qb when not asked to do too much. he can't carry a team but he can lead a team when he has a good quality offensive line. all the crap about shotty is just that. he too is not elite oc, but not the worst either. like sanchez, they're both middle of the pack. this team lives or die's on rex ryan's defense, plain and simple.
Agree with you 100 percent. If you put that kind of sustained pressure on any qb they will shit the bed. Sanchez was clearly rattled early on, and he never recovered.
I can half-way understand people questioning Sanchez. Obviously I have faith in Mark that with the right team he can be our SB winning QB. The thing that get's me annoyed is when people want to question Sanchez and say that this is his third season he should be taking that next step when four weeks into the season we have not had one single game where the rushing attack was a threat at all. How can we be so quick to get Sanchez when our rushing attack all year has been non-existent? On top of that our offensive coordinator has proven that he is not as good as he thinks he is. If you are gonna judge Sanchez off of this game then you must not understand how important a QB's internal clock is when for the entire first half of football every time he dropped back to pass he was getting hit, rushed and forced to get rid of it or take a sack every time.
Jay Cutler probably is the most sacked QB this season and he still manages to make plays. stop making excuses!
