The bottom few roster positions always rotate on every team especially with injuries. Teams change their game plans weekly so they expand the 53 roster by rotating guys on and off waivers and PS. This if a fairly common occurrence. I hope he does well but if he doesn't they'll just bring someone else in. Look at Green Bay's Roster from last year, with all their injuries the bottom of their roster was like musical chairs.
That's still no reason to not give him a chance. This is what should have been done to begin with, we're just doing it three weeks late.
Exactly. I don't get the whole "desperation" thing. When he was released the Jets specifically said he was a luxury, but they had other pressing needs with roster spots, so they let him go while making it clear that the door was still open. In the weeks since, the team has remained in contact with him, and when we lost a couple of guys for the year they chose to bring him back. This doesn't look like desperation at all, in fact, it looks more like the result of foresight and planning. Rex couldn't do anything with Gholston because Gholston didn't care. Maybin does. Rex has made a career of taking guys with mediocre talent but strong desire and making them better players.
It's a low-risk move. It's not like it's going to make our pass rush worse. However, I do wonder why no other team has even sniffed Maybin from weeks 1-3.
Because they're NOT that desperate for a pass rusher would be my guess. Certainly the Patsies could use one ... or more.
No one can afford to bring in a player mid-season that has no experience with the team. They can't afford a roster spot and he is not eligible for the PS while he learns that team's defense. The only teams he could go back to right now are us or the Bills.
If Flacco sneezes on him he'll flop on the floor. The kid looks like an 8 year old the first time he put ice skates on.
Maybin has already showed that he has motor, and gives a shit, which makes him 100% better than Ghost.
I'd rather have a OLB who doesn't just get washed out of the play, or falls down on his own. He's not on ice skates. Keep your fucking balance.
All I'm saying is at least he made his presence known on the rush, and Flacco was hurried. Part two is obviously getting the sack. This is his third year, right? It's not impossible that he could improve.
