I'm just giving it a shot so be gentle  Round 1 Andrew Datko, LT, Florida State Well we all know the RT position has to be addressed, I think he's one of the best tackles in college football right now and would be a good pick up for is. Now I'm not sure how hard it would be to transition him to the RT position......ideas? Round 2 Melvin Ingram , DE, South Carolina He had a fantastic game today vs Auburn. He's not 1st round talent and for OLB they are all pretty undersized for us to be taking them. Round 3 is where I think we'll take an OLB. Ingram is a good pass rusher who could rotate in with Mike Devito on 3rd and Longs and what not. Round 3 Tank Carder ,OLB, TCU Good hard player who I think will give us solid depth behind the aging Thomas (If we keep him). He'll turn into a star in the NFL and may slip to 3rd round Round 4 Aaron Henry, FS, Wisconsin While Eric Smith is good, I think we should test someone else. Henry had 57 tackles last year, 2 INTS (both returned for TD's) and a Fumble rec. return for a TD. Just a thought Round 5 Tashaun Gipson, CB, Wyoming Pretty decent CB who I think could turn into another great player. He had 40 Tackles last year and 3 INT's. Might be a good kid to take late in the draft Round 6 Renard Williams, DT, Eastern Washington Not much to say about this guy except he plays with a chip on his shoulder. 54 tackles, 16 for a loss, and 6.5 sacks. May be a great late round pick up *Again I've done this once before* Opinions welcome.
I think if the Jets drafted Ingram, it would be for OLB. He is a former LB and has looked pretty good on 2 feet(ex: the INT today). Carder is more of a 43 OLB/34 ILB, he really doesn't have much experience as a pure passrusher...
Don't like this mock very much. No receivers and no pure pass rushers. I don't know how many times I can say this, but this team needs YOUNG receivers. We have two stop gaps getting lots of reps this year. There's no depth at the position. Datko brings some solid experience to the table, but I don't think he's a first round talent. Carder doesn't fit into this defense. Melvin Ingram is one of my favorite players in the country, but he's a questionable fit in this scheme. I think Rex would find a place for him, but we need immediate contributors early. Henry's a quality player that would bring depth to a weaker position.
Yeah Like I said giving it a shot. As for receivers I think we can wait another year after we address the other positions. I know its needed and I should have put in a WR in Tank Carders spot instead. Such as Devier Posey? Any ideas on him and then just getting an OLB later?
No, we can't. Next off-season, our depth at the position will look like this: 1. Santonio Holmes 2. Jeremy Kerley 3. Patrick Turner 4. Logan Payne That's absolutely horrendous... Our depth at tight end is also terrible.
Any Jet's mock with out a WR is just plain wrong. Watched most of the OSU/Sparty game.....BJ Cunningham is a player. Huge game for Cunningham. I've been on his bandwagon for a while. Cunninghan would look good staying in Green & White in the NFL.
He's a baller. This is a great season to be a receiver-needy team because 2012's draft will be loaded with wideouts. Some very good players like Cunningham and Wisconsin's Nick Toon will be available in the mid-rounds.
The number is staggering. Even Sanu declared he's going to enter into the draft, and with Jeffrey, Blackmon, Floyd, Fuller, Broyles, Toon, Jones etc. it's just sick. I was thinking we should go WR first round, but with all that depth we can probably still get a great #2 in the 2nd and fill another hole with our first.
Toon to the Jets seems like too much of a cliche' to happen. Don't get me wrong though, I think he'd be a great fit as either a future #2 or even just a #4...
