I hate the Red Sox, but i respect Terry Francona and what he did for that franchise. The White Sox would come out smelling like a rose if they end up hiring TF.
Francona apperently wanted to leave because Boston wouldn't commit to an extention... Where do you go to replace Francona? I dunno about Bobby V... I still think Theo may bail for Chicago...
Chicago ownership isn't gonna start interviewing for a new GM until after the WS, and that GM will most likely can Quade.
I'm not upset that Tito is leaving. I won't be upset when Theo leaves. After a collapse like this, and after the horrid start to the season, something drastic needs to happen. You can't play three months of baseball.
According to Adrian Gonzalez, that something drastic is scheduling less night games on travel days for the Red Sox to make it more fair. If you ask Youkilis, it'll probably be rewriting the rules to accommodate the DH in NL parks during interleague. Or maybe the Sox should cut bait with players who hold everyone but themselves accountable.
I've been through more disappointing Red Sox seasons. And even more disappointing Red Sox season endings. 1975, 1978, 1986, 2003 - these were all worse for me. Maybe two Championships puts a different spin on things. This team had plenty of injury issues for sure, but it lacked heart. And maybe that's why Tito wants out. Crawford, Gonzalez - these are long term investments.
hah, wouldnt that be a signing to talk about! he seems content handing down rediculously stupid decisions in head office, unfortunetly.
yeah, but I think he's itching to come back and he still thinks he was slighted by the Yankees somehow even though they put up with his "sit like a pile of turd on the bench while the umps blow call after call because his daddy used to yell at him" routine for the last 5 years
Please sign him....really, do it!!!! He won with a team he had no part in building and then lost 8 straight years with teams that he did. Sign that beast!!! While you're at it, take Cashman too. His resume is almost as bad. (He did win one)
