I never shit on him, but also never glorified him. He's got the speed to be a good pass rusher, he just needs to learn leverage and get stronger. Hey, it's not like he's going to make our pass rush any WORSE, that's for sure. Again, I dunno how people can be upset with re-signing him. The last thing he showed us in the preseason was that he CAN get to the QB, so why not give him a shot in the regular season? Doesn't matter who it was against, the point is we have no reason to just toss him to the side without giving him a look considering how little pressure we have on the QB.

I saw the message on Twitter on the way to work and this thread was the first thing I thought of.

As was said, he can't possibly make the pass rush worse. I personally like him, and I think he can help, but even if he doesn't, at this point we have to start trying to make something happen.

felt the exact same way. might as well give him a shot at this point. its not like bryan thomas can rush the passer, although he is great against the run. let maybin get in there on 3rd downs/passing situations. it cant be any less affective than what we have been doing.

Is it really THAT out of the question to let him cover an RB out of the backfield? We get burned bad by RBs who can catch and run. If Maybin can stay in front of the RB he can at least slow them down or make the QB think twice about dumping it off. He's not physical enough to stop the run, but at least he can, to use a basketball term, put a hand in the guy's face.

I Like this kid, during the short time he was here he showed he wanted to play. Is he big enough, does he have enough technique? Maybe not. Can he disturb the QB on 3rd downs maybe three to four times a game to cause a early release, interception, or sack, maybe.

I'm looking forward to his downs.

I'm glad he's back.. I mean most likely he won't help, but it's not like the guys out there are doing the job. Can he be any worse than Westerman? I doubt it. It will be nice to at least see someone out on the field up front with some speed.

    Why?

He still isn't very good. When Rex can't even talk you up there is an issue.

Where in his playing career has he even been asked to play coverage? Unless he already has some form of technique, which I doubt, it isn't something that is just gonna happen.

Yeah that's what I thought as soon as I saw the headline on ProFootball Talk.

Like I've said before, I guess he can't hurt, especially since we have an open roster spot, but this really comes across as grasping at straws. My gut tells me that Maybin will make a play or two this year, but that's it. Hopefully I'm proved wrong.

happy we saw that there was limited pass rush and did something about it...not that bringing him back means sack central, but the kid did show some ability to get to the qb in the preseason.
