This is a guy we should look at. Rumors have surfaced that he plays better as a weakside LB rushing the passer. Something we sourly lack plus he'll induce some speed to this D that needs it. Thoughts?
Im interested depending on what we would have to give up for him. Where did you hear the Seahawks are looking to trade him.
Honestly I think we've traded enough draft picks over the last few years that we need to start stockpiling some as it's quite clear we severely lack depth.
reading what seahawks fans say, and they have no idea why he isnt blitzing the QB enough. complaining why he is dropping into coverage, and not going after the QB. 10 more comments like this "WHY IS HE IN A ZONE COVERAGE? SEND HIM AT THE QB"
Id throw a 3rd or 4th at them ANYDAY. He'd be an excellent pass rusher, Rex would go nuts. I hope the Jets are looking at this kid.
have you seen him play in Seattle? only thing i remember is him picking off a retarded forte pass. i know nothing about this guy.
A 4-7 is a no brainer, anything higher you gotta think about because it is a risk since he doesn't have experience playing in a 3-4. From what I understand he's an exceptional athlete and was considered to be highly coachable coming out of college.
A 5th and higher it's a no brainer. Even a 4th rounder I'd probably throw but anything lower and you would have to think about it. You have to think other teams would be interested so a 5th and higher may not work
Got this from JI Just Bleacher Report, but they know the Jets are a good option. Aaron Curry Trade Rumors: 3 Teams That Would Revitalize Curry's Career By Richard Langford (Featured Columnist) on September 26, 2011 781 reads 6 Use your ← → (arrow) keys to browse more storiesNext Andy Lyons/Getty Images Aaron Curry was supposed to be a can't-miss product. He is missing. Curry is battling for a starting spot on the Seahawks with rookie fourth-rounder K.J. Wright. It is not all that surprising. Curry has been a disappointment. He has just five sacks in three years, and the Seahawks renegotiated his contract this offseason, which left him with an guaranteed salary for next season. He has the athletic ability to succeed, he just hasn't been a good fit for Seattle. Curry is 6'2", 255 pounds, and has 4.52 speed, but he has toiled as a strongside linebacker. Curry needs more freedom and a chance to rush the passer to show off his athletic ability. According to one NFL executive, quoted on boston.com: “Curry may ultimately be better with a hand on the ground." Here are three teams that would help Curry get his career going. New York Jets Rex Ryan knows how to put his players in a position to succeed. He is constantly aligning his defense with different fronts, and utilizes exotic blitz packages. Which of these teams would be the best fit for Curry? Jets Raiders Patriots Submit Vote vote to see results Ryan loves to send his linebackers after the QB. He also has plenty of linebackers with the strength to hold the edge and play the strong side. This would free up Curry to get after the passer and keep an eye on backs on the weak side. The Jets are also in dire need of his athleticism. The Raiders ground game exposed the Jets' slow linebackers. Oakland Raiders The Raiders have been accumulating big linebackers. Al Davis has also always loved to take former first-round draft choices and put them in a position to succeed. They recently did this with Kamerion Wimbley. Wimbley moved to linebacker from defensive end. While he spends the majority of his time at linebacker, Wimbley puts his hand in the dirt on passing downs and has had great success rushing the passer. Curry would give the Raiders a similar player on the weakside. While Curry is not the surest of tacklers, he would be a step up from current Will, Quentin Groves. The Raiders would find downs to move Groves onto the line and let him rush the passer, and Curry would spend the rest of his snaps solidifying the Raiders' weak side. New England Patriots Bill Belichick is not afraid to take others' castoffs. He also has plenty of picks to deal for players in a trade. The Patriots defense is in dire need of a pass rusher. They are being picked apart by opposing QBs. Curry could come into New England as a pass rush specialist, and Belichick has gotten pass rush production out of players with far less athletic ability than Curry in the past.
If its a single pick than its as if we selected a pass rushing LB with one of our draft picks. That logic is severely lacking. Not that I agree that we should get this guy. From what I've heard, the guy is too soft.
thats what they said about holmes... Curry was a top 5 pick a couple years ago. He has value, and is clearly in not the right scheme for him to suceed. I would love to see him in Green and White, but I hae doubts that Seattle would trade him for next to nothing considering he still has plenty of potential.
Curry was one of my favorites coming out of his draft class, loved him as a prospect. If it's a lower pick then definitely go for him, but unless Tanny can work some magic, I doubt we could outbid another more desperate team.
If we had kept Maybin and then traded for Curry, we would have 3 of the top 10 players taken in the 2009 Draft on the roster
