I believe Wilson could excel as a #2 CB. People have said that he had a horrible rookie season last year, but really, he was playing a different position. His entire college career, he played CB on the outside, so Wilson has the sideline to protect him, and can dictate where he wants the WR to go (because he can press him, knowing he can only go one way, opposite of the sideline). While playing against slot WRs, CBs have to be prepared to have the WRs go EITHER direction and don't have the sidelines to help them. #1/2 CBs are VERY different positions from #3/4/5 CBs, I think we should give him a chance playing opposite of Revis. He may do good, he may do bad, but I believe it's unfair to judge his talents based on him playing an almost different position.
I'd actually like to see Wilson on the outside and Strick at nickel. Strick played nickel on the 09 defense and he was spectacular.
well said and I agree. The guy tries hard to do his job. The refs target him and it was obvious. On the muffed kick, he tried to make a play. At least he tried and Id rather that then not trying at all.
I have no problem with him trying to take the ball out at first. My problem came when he inexplicably did not just fall on the football with 3 guys right in his face.
I don't get it. Against the Jaguars, everyone and their mothers were loving Cromartie. He had 2 interceptions, and the posts were constantly saying how he was not a bust after all. That he turned out to be worth what we are paying for him. Now that he had a bad game, everyone is questioning his ability to play. I don't understand how that works. Here are just a few posts from when he had the 2 interceptions: yeahhh CROOOO.... earn that contract buddyyyy CROMARTIE!!!! has read the "is cromartie worth his contract thread". And replies today with a "yes" and "fuck you." Cro was a steal. Cromartie = Pro Bowler Now everyone is hating on him because he had a bad game, that I personally don't even think was entirely his fault, with the terrible calls by the ref's.
Come on man. Cro had a bad game, but everyone knew he wasn't a consistent player before they paid him. We need to keep the best players on the field and even with last week's performance Cro is a good corner and doesn't typically fuck up and get abused like that.
Lee Evans isn't officially out.... He said there was a chance he could have went LAST WEEK. I think he might be questionable... but to say he's OUT is not correct at this juncture.
 As for Cro, anyone is crazy if they think the Jets make up for not having him in the lineup with anyone. The fumble was the one thing I hold against him last week, and that's not what he brought in here to do. Manish actually said two of the penalties were flat out garbage after re-watching the game. I like Wilson, but the Jets are so much better when he's the third best corner on the field. Especially since our front seven can't seem to get near the QB. Cromartie is going to play. After the tests showed it was bruised lungs they said it was simply a matter of pain management and how much Cromartie can handle. He may get some rest in-game, but he'll play. I'd guess someone will get the chance to return kicks though.
Yea I want Cromartie to take a break from returning kicks at least for now. Joe McKnight should get the chance he looked nice in the 1 return he had.
Idiocy. Let them talk. I don't care. Its only cannon fodder for the stupid drama queen media types anyway. I completely agree with your statement. However - I think Wilson is doing a great job at the nickel position and I would rather let him continue doing that and move Strickland. Since opening day. Kyle's been doing well with only a handful of bad plays (and I can't even hold him slipping on the infield dirt against him). The last thing I want to do is take him out of his groove and put him in a position he hasn't been practicing for. I am hopeful Cro can handle the pain and play but I also don't want him being forced out there and being injured further.
No I think you've misinterpreted the thread. Cromartie is still the #2 start no doubt but if he is unable to play this weekend because of the lung, than who should we have on the outside. I think they should split the reps at #2 corner with wilson getting the majority and strickland playing nickel and #2 sometimes. That could add some tricky looks for the ravens to deal with maybe.
i think strickland would get the spot if need be... i see rex wanting to keep wilson in a stable spot
And its never smart to pick up a football on the short hop it took too. It can't be excused. It was an awful play.
Strickland played a lot of the outside after Cro went down, and he played fantastic. Made that great break-up in the endzone. Wilson has been great so far too, but I think we'll see him in his more comfortable nickel role.
If Cromartie could be a little more physically consistent and draw less fouls he is the obvious choice. Behind him I would say that Wilson is next in line.
