You kidding? Teams adjusted to the overload blitz and we never had a dominant passrusher. Remember the Vikings game last year? Fans were saying "RR needs to stop throwing the sink at them." Now he needs to start throwing the sink at them again?

    Experts, man.

Sometimes on Sunday, you just get your ass handed to you. Teams have bad days. Other teams may over achieve or play to their potential, or just get lucky. I'm not sure what it means yet, and I think there are too many more games in the schedule to really know. I think the league if figuring out that maybe Oakland is a better team than they have been in recent years. New England likely learned the same about Buffalo today.

2-1 is not a bad start to the season. We have some issues, and some injuries. Lot of football left to play before we get too excited, homicidal, or suicidal. lol

I do remember the Vikings game. Brett Favre was 14-34 and the Jets won 29-20 all with Darrelle Revis just back from his hamstring pull and looking gimpy still at points during the game.

The Jets went away from the kitchen sink blitzes last year because Revis was hindered by the injury until mid season and really a bit longer than that. That's why they stopped blitzing, because they didn't have as much faith in the corners.

They didn't start blitzing again later in the season because they lost Jim Leonhard to the broken leg at just about the point the other defensive backs all got healthy at the same time.

They've got everybody now. They need to get back to doing the things that made Rex Ryan's defenses great because they've looked kind of weak against Dallas and Oakland and nobody is going to count the Jaguars win as anything more than Jones-Drew can't carry McCown.

Nah I still disagree on your philosophy. The NYJ defense blitzed I think once or twice @Indy in the playoffs last year and played magnificent defense. The next round @NE they used a little more blitzing, but less than the 2009 norm and that, too, was an excellent defensive performance.

I don't think "fixing" the defense is as cut and dry as you make it to be, and actually I don't think the defense needs major "fixing" because they've had one bad game pass-defensively and one bad game rush-defensively in 3 games played.

If the Jets have 5 bad games pass defensively this year and 5 bad games run defensively the odds are pretty good we're looking at 9-7 and probably out of the playoffs.

Good defenses don't break down every third game and yet you can argue that the Jets have broken down twice this season in the three games they've played. In fact they've broken down every time they have faced an NFL caliber QB.

Well you can use that perspective moving forward and I'll give this defense the benefit of doubt based on their last couple of seasons. We can check back to see what eventually does the Jets in, if they are to be done in.

The Steelers D got smoked by the Ravens, and then the Ravens were stifled by the Titans D. Make sense of that.

Defenses are behind this year. All elite teams are having trouble.

Everyone minus the Bills are 2-1. So if the fucking Bills are 3-0, you know its going to be a dogfight of a season.

People will now take the Bills seriously. So they won't have games like this anymore. They'll get shut up and the Jets and Pats will fight for the division.

We can be critical, but we need to relax at the same time. Now that I'm calm, my concern is Mangold returning for the Baltimore game.

I hope the Jets come out pissed off after yesterdays flat performance on defense.

A lot of us have been using the "experts, man" shit as a joke. ...but it's actually quite fitting for our old psychic friend Br4dw4y.

He knows so much about football because he predicted how this team would finish a few years ago.

    Garbage thread is garbage.

You have to figure out who the elite defenses are though to make that kind of early judgement. Most of the teams that finished in the top 10 last year on defense are down some this year but several that finished middle of the pack and below are up.

I don't think anybody is going to be shocked if the Lions are really a top 10 defense by the end of the year. They've been drafting high and on that side of the ball the last couple of years and they seem to have made some real hits.

Similarly I don't think anybody is going to be shocked if a Steelers defense that averages 31+ years of age declines some and drops out of the top 10. Particularly in a context in which their favored style of play is being heavily penalized.

Given the Bills have now beaten the Pats people are going to take them seriously. I tend to agree that they'll be the odd man out but there's no way the Jets are going to go 9-7 and grab a wild card in this division the way they did in 2009. If the Jets don't fully earn their spot this year they're not going to get it. If the Jets don't play to their full capabilities the Bills will happily take the spot from them just like the Dolphins did in 2008.

If Mangold doesn't play against the Ravens the Jets aren't going to score enough points to win the game. The Raiders are a mediocre defense with a few great players. The Ravens are a really good defense with a few great players.

I saw a Jets team that eventually was worn down by the Raiders size and speed. Basically, the Jets were bullied. Just win baby!

I wouldn't use the word worn down but I agree with the bullied part. I had a bad feeling about this game and I really think the pieces are in place in Oakland to make a run at the division title. I don't know if Jackson is the best coach in the division but 3 games into his career and I know he can out coach the guy down I-5 near the border.

    Here's what I saw today:

Sanchez continues to make bad throws at the worst times and doesn't have chemistry with his new cast of receivers. Shonne green is better off tackle and is not an every down back. I can put in perspective the fact that our O-line is depleted and probably not capable of giving opposing defenses any fear at this point , so we are just going to have to bear the next couple of game because they are going to be tough to win. The officiating today was atrocious , but at the end of the day the ref's made plenty of make up calls and that wasn't a factor.

The jets plan's for certain player's and the way they fit into a game are going to have to change. we do not have the personnel to run the ball down teams throat anymore and the tall receiver we got to go vertical is going to have to run routes that allow him to go vertical. I really cant rip the secondary to bad they did their thing , but got no help on the offensive side of the ball . Jets need to get back to the basics and get this thing turned around in a hurry because we face some extremely good teams in the next 4 games and cant afford to loose any.

Sanchez made one or two bad throws today. He had no time in the pocket all day and had 370 yds, 3 (should have been 4) TDs and 1 INT. He played his ass off today, good enough for a win.

This one's on the run D.

I don't think its fair to think this one game ruins everything. The Bills and Fish will lose to us twice and the Pats might split. We will either take the division or wild card. It's early. Still the 1st quarter of the season. Worry and call me out for this response if we are worse than 7-3 going into week 12.

Today was bad execution and a defense that overlooked their opponent. Based on fan reactions a lot here did too. Glad jeaux wasn't unbanned.

I still need more consistency from Sanchez. The biggest plays Sanchez made was on a screen pass there happened to be a big hole on. There was no effort made to push the ball down the field at all. That can't be all on Schotty, there were some routes made further down the field.

And the 2nd biggest play of the game, behind the Cromartie muff, was Sanchez's stupid interception. That killed our momentum and was just a stupid decision that you can't make at that point of the game. And we put the ball in his hands on 3rd and 4th and 2 in the 3rd quarter, and we didn't get it done.

He played pretty well. He's not the reason we lost. The defense and Cromartie have a lot to do with it.

I'm hoping it's all part of the learning curve. Year 3, he's still learning, he's got less experience than most 3rd year QBs. This is the first time he's had to throw the ball a ton to win games for us. It's good learning experience.

I just worry the offensive line gets him killed in the process.

I was worried abt our run defense last week with MJD but Mccowns ineptness disguised how well MJD was running on us, we always seem to give up some yards or occasionally a truckload during the course of the season even with this good D.

The way Oakland was pumped for this game, their talent (RB, WR’s & Dline) a QB in Campbell who really looks better than I ever thought he would be, I’m not at all shocked by the outcome.

But its early & given the lockout I won’t be surprised to see a lot of ‘shocks’ as the season progresses, I think Oakland though will make the playoffs that team is maturing especially Campbell who is unrecognizable from the Redskin Inconsistent & hesitant QB….

What has not changed despite the mauling we took was we never gave up, frankly I still thought we had a legitimate shot after Keller caught that deep pass. This team will be here for the long haul we could easily be 1-2 right now but the reason we are not is because we are a good team, looking around the league it looks like every team has its problems…do you really believe Buffalo will win the division? Nahh I would put money on Cincinnati next week before I put them on top of us or the Pats.

And as for Sanchez all he needs is to start games better, he did that last week & today too…this team with a lead will be difficult to beat (today was an aberration) because we always close games well & YES I believe we can win it all with Sanchez because it takes much more than just the QB playing well to win & Sanchez rarely plays poorly especially when it matters & we are good everywhere else in comparison to most teams…

When the initial premise of a play breaks down, it is no longer a set play but a chance for improvisation. Sanchez was able to escape the pressure and tried to make a play. Initially Sanchez was looking short left, it was not there. Pressure, roll right, buy some time, should have just thrown it away, but he went for Burress, too late.

Has anyone bothered to say what alot of us are thinking. That is that the talent level on both lines isn't as good as we thought they were. Our OLine can barely qualify as mediocre in the run game and at the rate we're going, El Capitan won't survive the season. Hunter is NOT the answer, Slauson is marginal. Brick and Mangold are really the only keepers on the OLine. Our DLine is a slow, plodding mess that's beginning to show some warts. Wilkerson injected some youth but its time we start a, dare I say it, "rebuilding" process along the DLine starting with yet another huge NT to fill Jenkins's role. Our corners, including Cro, are ok but our Safties remain a liability. Without any QB pressure, we could add Ty Law and Deion Sanders in their primes and it wouldn't matter if guys like Brady can sit in the rocking chair and pick us apart. Ryan's schemes worked for 2 years running but did anyone think that once there's enuf film out there, countermeasures would be developed?
SB? At this rate, I'd have to say no way in hell. Every team goes thru this and it appears that 2011 is our turn.

    jmho..
