I would rather win the games we're expected to win....the Raiders aren't an elite team. That game was very winnable if the Jets could stop the run and neutralize the Raider pass rush.

Because fans having thoughts affects football outcomes.

Dogshit teams always beat elite teams. I believe when the Saints won the Superbowl they lost to the 0 win tampa team while they were undefeated at the time. Hell the Pats got spanked by the browns last year and Bills this year, Ravens got owned by the Titans, so on and so on.

I just think a humiliating loss like this will be the reason that we DONT lose both the next 2 games. Fact is if we woulda skated by by the skin of our teeth today, we likely woulda went into Baltimore and got killed next week.

Where now Rex is gonna be furious, and this entire teams going to go into this next 2 weeks with a huge chip on their shoulder. Not to mention i got a good feeling the next few practices are gonna be a whoooole lot more intense.

And ill add on that if the Oline plays like it did today against the Ravens Sanchez would end up dead or in a coma. Better off to realize how horrendous it was today, then once its too late when we arrive @ Baltimore

If they actually realize these things, that would be one thing. But they can easily chalk up the oline mess to mangolds absence, which it wasnt, and the defense just looked like shit. The only person to actually do his job was Revis- what a surprise. We cant have these lapses and get absolutely dominated at the line of scrimmage and the God awful penalties. I hope this is a reality check and we come out of the gate strong the next two weeks, because if we dont, then it WILL hurt us

After what they did to the Pats today, it would be idiotic to underestimate the bills. They sure as hell are beatable, and we are far and away the more talented team, but they just beat the Pats, and beat the team that just physically kicked our ass up and down the field in the second half.

Underestimating the bills would be the stupidest thing we could do when we go to play them, I don't even care if they are 3-4 when we get to play them week 8. Underestimating them would be a bad idea.

Teams with Super Bowl aspirations gain nothing from losing games.

there's nothing more annoying then the 'blessing in disguise after a loss' thread.

no loss is good. if the jets were 8-0 would I be thinking 'maybe we should lose so we don't get over confident' umm no.

Good post. Though its pretty depressing behind a lose, it brings out the best in Rex. I like to see how he responds to losses & how the front office responds. Losses galvanizes contenders & sinks most pretenders.

Its gonna be very interesting to see how Jets respond in these next 3 games.

The Jets have never come back the next week and played real well after any horrible loss under Rex.Look at the Miami week 5 loss in 09=shit the bed against the Bills the following week, week 8 loss in 09 again against Miami=came back and lost to the Jags after a bye nontheless,Week 8 loss to Greenbay last year came back and barely escaped the Lions the next week, week 13 blowout from the Pats last year we cam out and shit the bed once again against Miami the following week.We never seem to respond well after a big loss we either loss once again or barely squeek by.Losing never seems to ignite this team!

How about when they lost to Buffalo and then went to Oakland and won 38-0?

Or when they lost to the Ravens last year in week 1 and then beat the Pats 28-14?

Or losing to the Fins and then shocking the Steelers for the Jets first regular season win in the state of Pennsylvania?

Or the heartbreaker to the Bears and then coming back home and destroying the Bills?

    The evidence shows both sides.

And the Jets suck after a bye. He has to stop giving them the week off. Especially this year. They have to come in and practice.

Ok you are rite maybe it does but we cant count that last game against the Bills last year that was basically a preseason game with barely any starters playin from either team.

The 2nd team offense put up 38. Still impressive.

But the point has been made. This team has done both, and it seems that if its not a rivalry game or after a bye week they'll win it.

And to go one step further, it really is an interesting pattern that they lose to either a division opponent or its after a bye week:

    09:
Lost to Dolphins, then Bills (the INT game)
Lost to Fins again, then bye week, then Jags (MJD kneel down)
That loss to the Jags, then Pats @ NE

    2010:

Bye week, then Packers (400 drops by WRs game)
Lost to Pats 45-3, then fins (6-10 game)

So okay fine I won't count the bills because it was indeed a CFL team.

The pattern is frighteningly fascinating. After a tough loss, if a divisional opponent follows, they'll lose. If its not a divisional opponent, then they lose after the bye week. So if my calculations are correct, bet on the Jets pulling the upset against Rex's former team, because there is no bye week in the way. Thank god the Pats are after the Ravens, or else the Jets would be 2-2 after week 4

ah fuck I meant division rival.

The Jets have never beaten the Ravens, so its not really a rivalry.
