This is the dumberst post Ive ever read. Wouldnt our Defense be to be blame under your scenario? This whole thread is fucking retarded. The defense lost the fucking game guys. End of fucking story.
I have to agree. Defense lost this one. Damn you, Schotty and your shitty defense!!! Schott better iron out that defense for next week!
Free pass at what? I suppose he should be blamed for having a scrub back up Mangold? Sorry but a Jets fan pissed at the offense tonight when the defense gave up 250 yards on the ground is a fucking moron.
Why does it have to be one or the other? The offense squandered great field position several times in the game. Just because the defense was awful someone is a moron for pointing out the offensive shortcomings in the game?
It doesn't have to be one or the other. The Jets offensive line was putrid for 1/2 the fucking game. Is that Schottenheimer? No and sitting here saying he sucks is absolutely moronic ...............
Exactly. Saying the defense was more at fault than the offense, so the offense can't be criticized is moronic. Anybody who thinks the offensive performance today had nothing to do with the outcome of the game is the moron. I guess it's fine to not get Holmes involved. To not take any shots down field against a crap secondary. To keep doing the same crap that clearly isn't working, like rolling Sanchez out or doing 3 yard slants that the Raiders kept jumping. But yeah, the D gave up a lot of rushing yards so the offense was fine. No problem.
No. It's really not moronic. Defending him when his performance for FIVE YEARS now has been mediocre at best is moronic. It's not just because of one game that people are up in arms with this guy.
Well maybe Routt isn't a bad player and Holmes wasn't fucking open? Nahhh blind hate for Schotty is the answer. Maybe Sanchez didn't have time for Holmes to put a triple move on Routt like he did in Jacksonville...........nahhhh Yeah like Sanchez didn't almost get killed 3-4 times attempting to roll out but had a jail break coming at him............nahhh Maybe the hate for him after this game is pretty fucking moronic................nahhhh BTW I am not defending Schotty, I don't think I ever have. But I had to listen to jagoff Jets fans blame him for this loss tonight and it makes my head explode...............
Ok... I had a revelation today. Hear me out. Ok... here's the deal. Chan Gailey benched Trend Edwards last year then Ryan Fitzpatrick has been his man for the entire year. Fitzpatrick posted respectable 23 TDs while throwing 15 INTs. He played 13 games but still threw 3000 yards; if you extrapolate it, it should come a shade below 4000 yards for a full season. Gailey had Fitzpatrick for less than one year, but Fitzpatrick still produced the results in tune of: 255/441, 57.8%, 3000 Yds, 23 TD, 15 INT If we extrapolate this for full season, we should see something like: 314/543, 57.8%, 3692 Yds, 28 TD/18 INT ======================================================== On the other end of the spectrum, there is Schottenheimer. Did ANY of his QBs produce anything remotely similar to that? We are talking about exactly same situation; in case of Fitzpatrick, he just joined the Bills last year, so it is highly unlikely that he built anything with Gailey. In other words, his situation is very close to Schottenheimer's situation, where a new QB had to come and learn, and produce. Remember, when Gailey had his tools available, his offense almost always ranked within top 10. ('06 Steelers were ranked 6th in total offense, and 7th in scoring for instance.) It's more than likely that he knows how to make an offense work. Now, look at Schottenheimer without your patented Schotty-o'matic koolaid glass. 5 QBs went through him in Jets franchise alone, and NONE of them could perform up to the level of Fitzpatrick last year. Pennington never threw 20+ TDs. His best year under Schottenheimer ('06) boasted a modest 17/16. Favre ran his own thing, and was 22/22. Sanchez? I will leave that up to you. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last, but not the least, just imagine this. Let's say Schottenheimer is directing Bills offense. I am not talking about this year - let's talk about last year. Do you honestly think he could reproduce or do even better than what Chan Gailey did with Fitzpatrick? Just consider that. *I just find it amusing to see Schotty defenders come up with all kind of excuses after excuses when the writing has been on the wall for years.*
not scoring is one thing not being on the field is a completely different problem. when the defense has to be out there all game, with minimal 2 minute rests between drives against a team as big and physical as the raiders, with a running back like mcfadden, they are going to give up big plays. the defense held strong for a while, but the offense kept giving the ball right back to the raiders. 17 points until like 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. last td was scored at the beginning of the second quarter. defense shit the bed but was really left out there to dry all goddamn day.
Why didn't you read the couple posts before quoting that particular one? You would've seen a trend of crazy posts blaming schotty for non-offense crap. It was after arguing @ ppl to stop blaming the offense. edit: Think I'm losing it. Did posts right before get deleted? Could've sworn there was a couple posts beforehand with the same sarcastic trend. ==== On Topic: The schotty hate on these boards has reached the point of madness. - Jets entered 4th quarter with 17 points ---- scored one TD ---- came within one yard of a second TD (and perhaps should've kicked FG instead). with no Mangold & other injuries on the line, the defense KNEW that they had to step up. The Jets are supposed to be a defensive minded-team. Rex is a defensive genius. WTF is everyone pissed @ Schotty when the offense still put up so many points? Coming into this game, if you knew the Offense could put up 24-27 points, why wouldn't you take it?? This D is supposed to win games with that much points.
Listen, did the offense do enough to win this game? Yes and No.Ideally, 24 pts with our D should always be enough, but it was clear by halftime it would not be. Its a team game and the O was needed to pickup the D cannot and Schotty and Sanchez did not deliver. Personally, I would like to know whether you guys feel this is more on Schotty or Sanchez? The playcalling was atrocious in that 3rd qt, and then again down 31-17 our first two plays are runs up the middle, needing a great catch by Mason to extend the drive. Schotty is constantly putting us in terrible down and distance and making it tough for Sanchez to succeed. He is predictable in every facet of his play-calling and our offense has zero imagination. I can accept Holmes having 1 catch in a game, but not when its against these Raiders DB's and not when we barely targeted him. Open or not, Holmes needs to see 8+ balls his way a game, and the same should be true for guys like Plax and Keller. On the opposite end I would love to know how much of this truly is on Sanchez. He is CHOOSING to dump it off or is that the playcall? COULD he/SHOULD he have audibled out of some of these terrible play calls by reading the defense better? I feel as though on several occasions guys were open downfield but Sanchez does not wait for routes to develop and quickly looks to dump it to LT. With the way our oline has played I guess thats understandable, but nevertheless I dont feel Schotty is putting him in position to succeed and I dont think Sanchez is maturing as the QB we all had hoped for in year 3. Thoughts?
A scrub? I think the kid played well and the rest of the line sucked. And down 2 TDs with 8 minutes left you shouldnt be running the ball up the middle.
I hate to break it to you, but the Raiders played mostly zone yesterday. See the Holmes Post game presser.
I'm so glad Holmes called out Schotty yesterday. I hope more players voice their opinion and finally get this clown fired.
So we criticize Sanchez for making poor decisions and having a low completion percentage. Now that he is not forcing the ball as much and taking the high percentage play more and is over 60%, he is criticized for that? Having season tickets for 31 years has taught me one thing. You can't see shit on TV because you can't see the secondary or the coverage or the patterns. You have no idea what is going on when you watch from your couch. How do you know if Holmes was running deep routs all day and was covered? How do you know if the Raiders were double the wideouts and taking away the deep ball? As for Sanchez in the pocket and his "lack of development" in his first two seasons he put up mediocre numbers with a great OL and one of the best running games in the league. He was sacked less than most QBs in his first two years. This year he is running for his life, but is putting up better passing numbers across the board.
The defense lost this one but the offense looked like crap for much of the game. The playcalling was predictable and Sanchez could not get into a groove until he was calling his own plays.
