What happened here? Do we just put the blame on the OL or does Greene have something to do with losing that burst up the middle? He looks like he has gone backwards in the past 3 games
He had 96 total yards today. The OL is clearly playing like shit. Don't get down on Greene... We had no push up the middle and had a 3rd string Center playing.
Unless its Barry Sanders, I'm not expecting any RB to produce when the O-Line is just getting dominated. Greene hasn't impressed but I'm not so sure any RB in the league would be able to consistently grind yards for this Jets offense right now.
I thought he actually looked good early today when they finally got him outside the tackles for the first time this year. It's a big handicap having him out there instead of LT on passing downs though, especially with as much as Sanchez loves to dump it off to the underneath guy. Even when he gets it in space he can't do anything after the catch to make guys miss.
I'm not down on Greene at all. He had a pretty decent game. They should pitch the ball out to him more often as they did early in this game. I'd like to see more sweeps too. We're always just running straight hand-offs and I don't think that's really his game.
He was one of our better players today. 1. L.T. 2. Revis 3. Greene Everyone else pretty much stunk up the joint Edit: Burress was solid also.
Calling runs up the middle when the OL is in the shape it currently is is going to make any runner look bad. I don't think he's shown anything particularly special, but until and unless the line can start opening some holes the offense is going to have problems.
schotty's play calling really isn't geared towards his strengths.. you can't just run him up the middle when the o line is getting no push and expect him to run for 7 yards at a time. they need to let him run on the edges more.
That's how I feel. I don't know if Greene has regressed since he was only really a very good back for a few games late in 2009. He just hasn't really improved since then, except in the passing game, where he can actually catch the ball now. The first 2 games, he has no holes to run through. Today, he did, and he looked a lot better, but he still didn't break many tackles.
Last year Greene lost the starting job to LT and they did well splitting carries equally. This year everyone and their brother projected Greene to take a quantum leap and for LT to play a limited role as the third down back. Today they split the carries and we were able to run the ball with major OL problems. Greene is an ok running back but we shouldn't be expecting miracles from him, especially since LT isn't ready to hang it up just yet.
regressed from what? his big dominant game in the playoffs 2 years ago? he didnt do too much last year when everyone thought he would "break out" and now we want to say he regressed when he gains 96 yards... maybe he just isnt a top 5 back in the league. yeah thats probably it. as much as some of us want him to be great, at this point he has not shown that he is great, or even consistently good.
Face it. This is not a good offense with this O-Line. They're just bad right now. I'm just shocked that Sanchez hasn't gotten killed or played like total shit so far this season.
he was never a runningback that created his own from the LOS. When he is able to get to the 2nd line, and secondary that is where, and many other RBs make plays. how are people so lost on this? he had his best game of the season, and now this thread comes up? what is going on here?
