Has got to be one of the worst calls I have ever seen. He barely touched him. I saw highlights of the Eagles game and the Giants players mauled Vick. Where the hell are the flags there? Absolutely disgusting to see that call right there. That drive eventually led to the Raiders scoring a TD too. Had a feeling that is was going to be a long day after that one.
at least the refs called a bullshit "intentional grounding" call against the Raiders immediately after that.
I just hope the Jets took note that punching a QB in the face is legal. They should be allowed to do it against Brady, yes?
Or the sack on sanchez where he got his head twisted on a facemask and nothing was called. I'm not a ref complainer, but they missed obvious shit. Especially protecting the Jets QB.
But instead of it being an incompletion for them, it was a redo for them. Thus us getting screwed out of it
The 3rd one was. the rest weren't. I'm not singling you out, but how could anyone blame the refs? We committed those penalties. So did Oakland. Pretty fucking straightforward game in my eyes.
What do you expect? Should anyone be surprised by any of this. There was nothing egregious on Sanchez today. Nothing, imo.
This is going back to Pennington but our QB's get mauled, hit late , hit on the head and rarely get a Roughing call. Mark has been bashed in the head and facemasked in his 1st 3 years without any calls more than any QB I have ever seen. While Vick does get hit and has some merit in his claims, he is constantly extending plays, running etc... but he does take shots to the head also.
In officiating, there is a mentality of protecting the best players and the important players (usually the same in 90% of the cases) because its the mentality of flow and fairness to both sides is the key to good officiating. Today, the most important player on offense wasn't protected on that play. I don't care if its Manning, Bress, Brady or Rodgers. Even if its Luke McCown. That call has to be made. The twist of the helmet was blatant.
I agree that the refs are very much not to blame. But the Jets and the Raiders committed those penalties. The Jets got called, by and large, and the Raiders did not. Even with both teams getting called for equal penalties, it was a bit off.
It was the worst roughing the passer call I've ever seen. Simple as that. The defense still couldn't stop a nosebleed however....
The punch that broke his nose, the twisting of his head, and the other shots to his helmet weren't egregious?
An absolute joke. How the fuck could they throw a flag on that play. And just pick it up; don't make up a fake grounding penalty to cover up the mistake.
You can't hit a quarterback in the head. It's a penalty. Getting your nose broken while scrambling is different, he was in the pocket. You're the one reaching here.
It happens in this sport, and it gets called. Wilkerson did far less and got called. So there needs to be consistency, especially within a single game.
