Fact is this loss REALLY doesnt hurt us that much, and actually might help us in the long run. There isnt a single good 3-0 team in the entire afc, as a matter of fact the ONLY 3-0 team in the AFC is the bills. The Ravens, Pats both suffered humiliating loses to garbage teams that they were heavily favored to win, and the Steelers got embarrassed by a divisional rival. So were in the same company as the rest of the afc, not like this makes or breaks us. And its a HUGE wakeup call to how GOD awful our defense looks (DMac avging over 9 YPC going into the 4th quarter), and how bad we looked week 1 vs the Boys. And its a screaming wake-up call to how we need to make changes to play-calling on offense as well as how brutally awful our offensive line looks. Its better get this huge shocker early against a team that a tie breaker is irrelevant against, then to continue to struggle on with the same woes week in and week out. And its worth mentioning that when the Ravens/Steelers (aka the only other good afc teams that lost previously) got humiliated this year they both came out and slaughtered the next teams they played. And with the next 2 games being monumentally important, what a better time for this team to be fired the hell up going up against 2 teams that were guaranteed to be competing with over playoff standings later this year. Ill tell you now, this is the humbling stuff that breaks out your best
Thats not a bad point, sometimes its better to get the flaws out early. But the lack of pass rush, shit oline and run game is very concerning.
That kind of thinking is why we never host playoff games, we can't afford to blow games especially for "learning" bullshit.
Truthfully im not really worried about the pass rush this year. I think the only reason it was truly non existent today was we were so concerned with playing the run, which we still ended up being god awful at doing.
Tom Brady having possibly the best W-L ratio of any multiple year starting QB in the history of the nfl is why we never host playoff games. 13-3 would be a great season by any standards, but means shit if your divisional rival is consistently winning 13-14 or even 16 games a year
Anybody who thinks "losing" is a blessing, in any way shape or form, should probably light themselves on fire and run towards a gas station.
To be fair were actually ahead of the Pats. We have a better divisional record since they lost a divisional game already, where as we havent played one.
Ill take it you dont think us getting shit on by the Pats 45-3 last year was a blessing ? Seemed to fuel the fire pretty damn well come January
Beat me to it. I'm sick of just being there, or "next year" every game in every season is important. Who cares what other teams are, or are doing, FUCK THEM. THE JETS should be 3-0 and we're not, and we aren't playing impressive ball.
I agree with this 100%. I think we are both glad that each others teams lost, as much as we wanted to win, this is a wake up SMACK in the FACE to both the Pats and the Jets. I feel bad for next weeks opponents.
16-0 aint gonna happen, might as well have your loses be the kind that fuel the fire, rather than the kind that break your spirit (see the Texans last year) and then compare it to us last year. The Texans lost games that completely crushed their spirits and made them go out and play like dogshit as a result. Whereas I remember the Ravens game to kick off the season being a HUGE wakeup call (Sanchez was on an absolute tear after that pitiful showing), and then the same shit with that brutal pats loss leading us to the greatest post season upset of the year.
I never said 16-0....but we should defeat the teams that we're expected to beat. The Ravens and Patriots are a couple tiers above the Raiders in the talent department. If the Jets play like they did this afternoon over the next 2 weeks....2-3 will be a reality.
I dont think he was saying he is glad we lost. We were going to lose a game or 2 this year. I would rather it happen now and get the shit fixed that needs it.Ofcourse i would have rather had a win.
Packers admitted last year they had a wake up call after losing to the Redskins. This loss could be a blessing in disguise, but not seeing it with this o-line. Unless they drastically improve we could be in trouble this year.
