Actually, I think the offense played well. Considering how many O-Lineman were out & how strong the Raiders D-Line is, they got the job done. The D & special teams sucked badly on a day when they were expected to carry a hurt offense. 24 points should have been enough to win.
The offense played well. Sanchez had a good game. Not great, but certainly good. The defense was atrocious, particularly the run defense. It's an embarrassment.
defense let up some huge plays offense couldnt capitalize when the defense was stonin em. i think im more dissatisfied with the offense but that doesnt mean that im please with the game. 34 fucking points to jason campbell and the raiders? darren mcfadden is a great running back but you have got to be fucking joking when the stat line comes up and hes having a career day on one of the supposed best defenses in the league. rex is fucking up. hes been fucking up on offense by letting schotty go out there and run his high school offense. i dont even understand it, the announcers were even making fun of him, talking about how it looks like the jets are just guessing all wrong out there. its like he runs through a certain few plays during the week and sticks to only them during the game. what the hell is going on with the line? thats not schotty's fault, but he could ahve done a lot more to play around that. offenses have done much more with much less against much better defenses and this is just pitiful. a desperation td to get within 10? the worst part about the game was all the goddamn penalties on cromartie. what in the fuck was he doing out there? he absolutely killed us. of course, i dont really think they were all fair but either way he shouldnt have been so grabby. burress looks pretty good out there, i think that he and mark will have a good rapport by the end of the season. he seems to be playing real hard for the team right now. and like he said, he doesnt need to grab the ball every game. hes still making an impact, 3 games gone by, 2 tds and a whole hell of a lot of hits. i have faith rex wont have too many games like that the rest of the year. schotty not so much. the offense needs an upgrade.
Maybe next year when the Jets play in Oakland, the officials won't be intimidated by the animals who call themselves Raiders fans. And maybe the defense will show up.
and that WAS a touchdown at the end of the game. The ball crossed the goal-line before he was touched. Any player can have an elbow, knee, shin, forearm down and it will still be a "live" ball. And lets be real, he was diving for the goal-line not be tackled by Seamore.
The Jets played at Oakland five consecutive seasons, from 1999 to 2003. Then, after 2 home games, the Jets have once again traveled to Oakland in 3 of the last four seasons. It's shameful. The scheduling is just awful. Why do the Jets ALWAYS have to go cross-country to that glorified prison? It's just a joke.
offense cant sustain a drive the defense stays out on the field too long. the offense had a lot of chances and they only scored their last td with 3 minutes left in the game to cut the lead to 7 after being tied at half. offense sucked. defense lost the game. but the offense sucked.
i thought Sanchez was amazing today besides the one INT. Blaming the refs, and being without Mangold for this one.
Good game. Best of luck the rest of the way. The worst part about this for you guys is that you'll have to root for us to beat New England next week. Ouch. Okay, I gotta gloat a little. I didn't think we'd win but I said we'd move the ball and score some points and we did. Our D was still ass but the O made up for their shitty play by scoring points. Our playcalling on offense was lights out and McFadden is the best RB we've had since Bo Jackson. And that Denarius Moore kid might have a future in this league. Again, good luck the rest of the way.
It's obvious this offense plays a lot better when it is quick-moving, a bit desperate, with its back against the wall. Why Schotty won't let them play like that all the time is beyond me. But that could also be Rex, wanting to be ball-control, ground-and-pound. Sanchez is better, as is the whole offense, with a quicker tempo.
Agreed Re: Defense but the offense was not very good either. The Raiders have a strong front 7 and weak secondary and we never went vertical. Dumb ass play calling, worse throws by Sanchez and stupid decisions by Sanchez throwing an int in red zone. Sanchez has zero accuracy. You've never heard any announcer say "he went back shoulder", "fade to the back corner of end zone" etc. because he just isn't accurate enough to put the ball where it needs to be. Its pot luck with Sanchez, he can find an area to throw to but its a 4-5' zone and the ball could go anywhere in that zone. Good QB's don't do that, they put the ball where its supposed to be with no guessing by receivers on how close to them he'll get the ball. Why is he throwing Plax balls at his waist? Plax is 6'5" throw the damn ball up and let him go up and get it like Eli used to do. You don't allow defenders to defend a 6'5" receiver by throwing the ball at his damn waist. How many more roll rights and misfires does Schotty need to see before he realizes Mark just can't make those throws? If he rolls and sets his feet yes but not rolling and throwing on the run. I don't give care if they scored 24, the offense wasn't in sync. They should have scored 40 on that secondary. They have the receivers to do it, they don't have the QB or coordinator to though and that is troubling. Yes the D sucked, every once in a while a stinker will happen but they are still a VERY good D. You can't say the same about the offense and haven't in ages.
The D was swiss cheese today. Let McFadden run all over us, and gave up big plays. Blame the play calling and the refs.
Despite the fact that DMC is an elite back at this point, you can't let anyone scamper all over the field no matter who he is. That was the difference. This was definitely a "burn the tape" game. Nobody showed up besides maybe LT and Revis.
