congrats to the mighty fighting irish on a rousing win over a mediocre high school QB. absolute joke of a team. they were also obviously short on that last idiotic 4th down play.
Clemson's freshman wideout Sammy Watkins is a stud. This kid has top ten pick written all over him...track speed and runs tough like a running back.
I know that people get suckered into saying this every year, but Clemson really looks like they could be for real. I don't know if any defense in the ACC can stop that offense.
^ As much as I hate to say it, I agree. They are on a roll and just an incredibly fast team. Boyd's on fire so far this season. Chad Morris is an offensive genius. He's a Gus Malzahn disciple. *Edit: Their kicking always sucks though.
Seriously, that was one of the worst attempts I can remember seeing. It's always funny to see a play so bad that I legitimately think I could've done better.
I understand its becoming more of your schitck but where were you last week when Notre Dame outclassed a ranked Spartan team? I do agree though that this was a sloppy win and Rees looked absolutely shaky the entire game. I cringed every time he threw the ball. However, the running game of Notre Dame looked great, and Tyler Eifert had a great day, including 2 gorgeous catches that were all him. Likewise the Irish D had its way against the Panther offense as Te'o and Smith and Blanton were big standouts. Oh and it was a clear 1st down as its forward progress and the late push was more than enough IMO. Would not mattered anyhow, the Panther offense was pretty damn bad that with no timeouts, who knows if they even get into FG range. Notre Dame had so many chances to really do damage in the game but they shot themselves in the foot(AGAIN) that its hard to really say the Panthers deserved to win.
The Seminoles have a player in this Clint Trickett kid. What a drive to keep them alive in the 4th quarter.
Tajh Boyd is the player of the year, so far, incredible. Dwayne Allen has NFL tight end potential. Watkins is a playmaker, not many freshman WRs have that kind of ability. Clemson's offense is very impressive. Clemson looks scary good, but has a tough game at Blacksburg next week. I've never have been a believer in Clemson, so many disappointing seasons and has underachieved big time. Great players that have have gone to the NFL and done squat.
anybody see the Syracuse XP call today? the Cuse kicker misses an XP that they called good on the field. Then they replayed it, still called it good, even though it was left of the upright by like a foot. Toledo kicks a FG as time expires to send the game to OT, and Cuse eventually wins it 33-30. I was at the game in the Dome, no idea the guy missed the XP at the time. Just knew they did a review of it, but never showed a replay in the stands. We just figured they thought somebody had 12 men on the field for the XP. But when I got home, I flipped on the Arkansas/Bama game. At halftime they showed it, man did he miss it. No idea how they called it good.
The ball was on Rees' hip, his helmet and shoulders were at the first down marker, which is where they spotted it but the ball never really got close. I agree it wouldn't have mattered though because Pitt's offense is a joke. This just made going for it in that situation, especially with such a weak play look that much stupider. Luckily for ND today the opposing coach was even dumber(won't get to see that too many times this year Irish fans). They might've had a shot at the end if their idiot coach had just punted the ball on 4th and 25. Pitt has a QB named Tino, that tells you all you need to know about their offense. Any grown man that refers to himself as Tino is obviously a fucking dummy that shouldn't be running your offense. The ND offense really was putrid though, aside from the 80 yard TD run in the first half they were getting like 3 YPC and Rees was awful the entire game including the TD drive. 2 or 3 of those throws are picks if Eifert doesn't jump up and pull them down out of the air, or if Pitt figures out that he was throwing to the same guy every play.
Garcia is making Casey Hayward look like a First Round talent...second INT of the game. Hayward is one of my favorite CBs this season. Too bad the Jets won't be looking at CB high in the draft, Hayward would fit in well...good press cover CB. Hell, Hayward has even played on offense...some wildcat formations. Casey was an electric High School QB in Georgia.
