Yeah, I definitely don't think it was intentional but it is dangerous.

Does Garay get fined $15K for making that hit on Luke McCown?

I'm trying to remember if there's ever been a thread about a Jets player getting hit too hard.

It seems like it's become a weekly whine amongst pats fans.

Thread was started by a Jets fan. And no Pats fan whined about it on here. Really reaching for material now, eh?

all this bickering it detracting from what really should be being discussed -- the sensationalized "Brady, who escaped unscathed..." quote, as if he was hit by a train but dusted it off.

it was a dirty hit and he wasn't hurt. it doesn't need any sensationalism.

I look at patsfans.com occasionally, but unlike you I don't troll other team's sites. If anyone gets tackled hard, there's a new thread for it.

Pussy-pats fans are an endless fountain for new material.

    What's the problem?

You hit below the knees you are going to get fined.

This is a QB driven league...Haven't you seen the offenses explosion this year?

The league needs its franchise QBs healthy...

For the Maclin hit, the league needs to start suspensions to stop that type of activity.

That moron had a chacne to tackle the guy but chose to launch himself instead...

1/16 pay cut + hurting your team for a game or 2 will hurt and make players think twice about being morons...

Let me try asking again, as the two Pats fans who have posted since I asked ignored the question: do you genuinely believe that Antonio Garay would have been fined $15K if he had made that hit on Luke McCown?

Quit bitching just because it was on Brady, the hit is very dangerous and deserved a fine even if it was on Luke McCown

I'm not a Pats fan but I think anybody gets fined for hitting a QB like that. It was dirty. It may not have been intenional but the guy dove at his legs. I understand he was trying to make a play but IMO the hit was worse then the one Pollard made on Brady when he tore his ACL.

Was there even a flag thrown on this horrible dirty hit? Just curious.

Yes, I do. $15k really isn't that high for a fine these days. Look at recent fines to Harrison, Brock, Polamalu, etc. Hits to QBs are always going to be valued higher. And if you think that the league just overlooks clearly fine-worthy plays to QBs not named Tom Brady, then you might as well just say so outright, so I can give up arguing with you.

Let's see what wikipedia says about this: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carson_Palmer)

I may be wrong, but it almost looks like he got his feet tangled a little after shedding the lineman and was falling down instead of diving toward his legs. I'm not sure.

I'm not disagreeing that it's a dirty hit that should be punished. I'm just not convinced that it does get punished if it isn't on Brady or one or two others.

I've looked for a list of NFL punishments and can't find one; maybe it's just the way that retrospective punishments are publicised, or maybe it's my memory. I'd be interested to see the evidence either way.

Yes, but to be fair the rule was further clarified in 2009. This may have confused people to thinking the genesis of it was Brady's injury. The actual play in which Brady was injured probably wouldn't fall under this rule though because Pollard was engaged in a block when it happened.

What Garay did was much more clear cut.

    Here's the video:
