I think most of us fans on this board can recognize the fact that the Raiders aren't a bad team, that McFadden is a top 5 RB, their offense and defense aren't terrible and that Oakland will probably make it a game. Every post I read on their board called us an overrated team with a fat coach with an overrated Revis and that we're gonna get destroyed. I didn't see one poster who thought otherwise. Just kinda crazy and ignorant if you ask me. Reality is a mythical idea on that board.

Yeah, we can not only give props to their running game and the improvement of their team, but worry about their front 4 and how Baxter and the OL is going to hold up against them. but they, like the Fins board, just have this insane homerism that is found throughout the league. I wish more people would try to understand the game better and be a little more objective, but people just aren't that intelligent.
You know, their pass rush is the one thing that worries me about this game. They're going to get some yards on our D, I don't question that, but if we can contain their front 7, we should win. I can't see Oakland scoring more than 20 against us. Tops.
I'm in the same boat. McFadden will have a screen pass that goes for 30+. There will be a catch over the middle by a WR that goes for a long gain. But if the Jets contain the runs inside, and can play the sideline to sideline game, then Sanchez should open it up against their defense. They blew tons of coverages against the Bills. You do that against the Jets' weapons, you're royally fucked.

And worst of all, they're not a real fan. Some will even challenge other fans to fights over the internet. A few are deteriorated enough to give out their actual home address, inviting people on the board to come and fight them.* Sunday afternoon: I can't believe we lost, what the hell happened? Monday: near paralysis after yesterday's completely unforeseen loss. It was as unexpected as getting hit by a bus when you're on an airplane. Just fucking impossible! Tuesday to Thursday: It's not that bad/we just had a bad day/the refs screwed us/things are looking better already. This is usually the slow build up with a few carbuncles rising to the surface before the full blown infection reasserts itself. Late Wednesday to Thursday to Friday: I think we're gonna win this one. It'll be close but we're at home, we got this and we got that and our guys are pissed off. They want revenge! On Saturday it's full blown. Pus and other bloody exudate gets on anyone near the homer. By Sunday morning... But if the team wins, look the fuck out. We're going to the Superbowl---hell, they don't even need to play the rest of the games. Just give us the Lombardi; you know you should. If you don't it proves the league is out to get us. *Great story: I was privileged enough to personally be a part of this incident. Some dimwit challenged all of us pussies to show up at his house to fight him and gave out his address. the couple of raiders fans that have posted here this week have been pretty cool and knowledgeable. as for their forum... well, being the laughing stock of the league for almost a decade will cause some of Al's senility to rub off on you. seriously, i haven't felt worse for a team than i did for the raiders this past 6-7 years ( i still hated a couple of years after they beat us in the playoffs until they started being a joke). imagine if Woody was Al Davis???? I'd probably start watching the other football.
I don't necessarily agree with this. I may get killed for saying this, but I think even patsfans and finheaven (and admittedly, I don't read those sites that much at all) have some realistic posters. Obviously, I think there are a lot of realistic fans on this board, too. I would have never joined this board in the first place if it were some homer circle jerk. Me, personally, I've been through a lot of losing rooting for the Jets, and I'd pretty much watch any football game even if the 2 shittiest teams were playing, so I'm pretty realistic about things. The Raiders fan's post above is funny. I'm not saying there aren't good football fans that happen to root for the Raiders (hell, I'm friends with 2 Raiders fans who I would definitely not call blatant homers), I'm just saying that board doesn't really have a semblance of reality (at least the threads I peeked into).

Injury update: Louis Murphy WR is out. Jacoby Ford WR is out. Heyward-Bey WR is questionable (did not practice yesterday). Chris Johnson CB is out. Michael Huff S is questionable. Kevin Boss TE is expected to play. Joseoh Porter will start at CB. This is a guy that was cut by OAK during camp brought back because of injuries. If Huff isn't 100%, the Jets need to exploit that secondary. However, they need to get Sanchez time to throw. The WRs are not great to begin with and right now it looks like Moore and Hagan are starting. The Jets should be able to shut down these two without much saftey help which is important if they want to stop the run.
It's going to be interesting to see how they cover Plax this week. The Jags had to double cover him and it let Keller run free down the field. If they single cover Plax, he could have a breakout day.

Plaxico Burress still recalls the wisdom Cris Carter, a Hall of Fame-finalist receiver, shared with him 11 years ago, when Burress was drafted into the NFL. “If you can beat man-to-man coverage in this league,” Burress said today, “you can play forever.” Burress relishes that challenge, which is why he is looking forward to this week’s game at Oakland. The Raiders are known for being a man-to-man coverage team, which, when exploited, can create chances on the outside for talented receivers. It’s a change from the Jacksonville Jaguars’ cover-2 scheme with two deep safeties. In the Jets’ 32-3 victory over Jacksonville last week, the Jaguars rolled coverage to Burress and doubled him on all but about two snaps, by the receiver’s own count. “(Oakland) is a man-cover team, with that safety deep in the post,” coach Rex Ryan said. “You’re seeing a little more split safety out of them, but that’s not an Al Davis team. An Al Davis team has that safety in the post. I expect more opportunities on the outside this week.” Burress’ opportunities were limited last week. He was targeted just twice by quarterback Mark Sanchez, none until the fourth quarter, and was held without a catch for the first time since a January 2006 playoff loss to the Panthers with the Giants. Burress said both he and the team were surprised he drew double teams, after a 20-month prison sentence for illegal gun possession kept him away from the game for nearly three years. But he also mentioned another factor affecting his chances: adjusting to a “different role” in the Jets offense. Burress said there are certain offensive packages he is not included in. He does not know if his role will grow, deferring to the coaching staff. “It’s different for me,” Burress said. “I’ve always been a guy that’s been on the field all the time. I just take it as, I’m just not in a certain package or whatever it may be, maybe I don’t fit the scheme of whatever they’re trying to do at that particular point. “That’s something I’m going to have to probably get used to. Ride a bike or whatever on the sidelines. Stay warm.” Burress played 35 snaps Sunday, by an unofficial count, about two-thirds of the plays with the first-team offense. The Jets ran 52 offensive plays with Sanchez, before Mark Brunell replaced him for the final five plays. Burress played a greater slice of the snaps — about 80 percent — in the opener against the Cowboys, when he recorded four catches for 72 yards and a touchdown. He admitted he was a bit winded in the fourth quarter of his first full game since his return, but he said conditioning was not a factor in his playing time Sunday. For comparison, Santonio Holmes unofficially participated in 43 snaps, though Holmes said that number was reduced by design because of his quad/knee injury. Burress sometimes came off the field for two and three-tight end sets and the Jets’ heavy goal-line package. He also was not used in one particular “21 personnel grouping” used four times, with two backs, tight end Matt Mulligan and Holmes and Patrick Turner as the receivers. The Jets’ plan was to start off Burress at the ‘X’ or split end position, where he is most comfortable. The offense also has tags, designed to get a certain player the ball, in which Burress could be moved around. “When they came here, I took it as they had a plan for me, things they wanted me to do,” Burress said. “So I’m just trying to fulfill that role, whatever they ask. Certain packages, I’m just not in.” The Jets have gone out of their way to create opportunities for Burress, notably asking Sanchez to throw toward him in the red zone in the fourth quarter of the Jacksonville game. The Jets were comfortably ahead, and Sanchez took a hit that bruised his throwing arm. This week, chances for Burress could be easier to come by. “He could have a lot of opportunities, if we see a lot of man-to-man, this week,” Sanchez said. “We want to use our best matchups when possible, but it could be a good day for the backs or the tight ends, and he understands. ... He’s got a really good feel for this and the longevity of the season, so he’s not fazed by this at all.”
Those were the same guys that were out last week. It was actually a good thing for us because we didn't have to play DHB. He's a hard working kid but he'll never be a serious threat. Having Ford out does suck because he's so versatile. As for Murphy, that's okay too. He's not as good as the guys we'll have starting. Johnson is no great loss. He's the guy the Bills offensive got fat on last Sunday. If he did play this week the coaching staff should have put a pink tutu on him until he didn't play like a fairy. Porter was one of the surprise cuts because we were already so thin at CB. A lot of people were pissed because our rookie, DVD got absolutely lit up in the preseason when he was on the field. Besides, it would be nearly impossible to do worse than Chris Johnson. So if anything, having a guy who cut in camp is an improvement over our starter from last week. I don't think that says anything good about the state of our d-backfield but... I wouldn't underestimate either of those guys. Both came up big multiple times in tight coverage last Sunday. The best thing about the Raiders is their offense. It's multidimensional so the Jets D is gonna have to cover the entire field. If we can pass protect we'll move the ball. But again, the real mismatch in your favor is your O vs. our D. They couldn't stop a bathtub from draining even if they had the plug. There is the freakish possibility that our outdated, poorly run, and poorly executed scheme may match up well against the Jets O because it does happen a couple of times a year, but I'm not counting on that.
