With the season nearing an end, do you think next week might be a "trap" episode for the writers?

I don't know last season I thought "One Minute" was going to be the episode of the season and couldn't comprehend why they did what they did in episode 7. Sure enough the last 2 episodes were awesome.

So who knows, I am sure the writers will hit us between the eyes with a brick. Within an episode you can predict what is going to happen but overall story........forgedaboutit.

If they are doing what I hope. It would be monumental.

It seems like they are setting up Walt to kill Gus. The beauty of this is that right now Gus is the hero and Walt is the anti-hero. The viewer is completely enamored with Gus and distant with Walt. A complete role reversal.

When Walt kills Gus, instead of the viewer loving Everyman prevailing, they would absolutely hate it.

It would be so great to have the writers pull our response triggers like puppets on strings.

I think Walter will kill Gus too.

Also, I feel like Jesse will always be on Walter's side and he'll end up killing Mike the Fixer (if he survives the gunshot).

There was a great article in New York Magazine a few weeks ago (I think it was NY Mag, may have been Rolling Stone) about the fundamental difference between Breaking Bad and its spiritual predecessors: when you watch those other shows, no matter how deplorable the characters are, part of you wants to be Tony Soprano, Don Draper or Stringer Bell.

On the other hand, nobody wants to be Walt. Not even Walter White actually wants to be Walter White (hence Heisenberg.) It creates a totally different dynamic for the viewer.

I think that Walt will eventually kill Gus too, I just don't see it happening this season. I could see Walt killing a weakened Mike in the near future, however.

I don't like Gus, he OCDs too much.

No, really, I don't like Gus; I wouldn't want to be in Walt's shoes and I agree that he's quickly getting away from being a sympathetic character, but I still like him more than Gus.

Hank on the other hand is the guy I feel they're doing what you're saying. He's been opposite Walt since episode 1; at first he was shown more like an arrogant prick, but as the show advanced he's been shown more human and likable, and unlike Walt vs Gus (Walt wins), I'm not sure who wins in Walt vs Hank.

For those reasons, I don't agree with BD here:

Walt kills Gus this season and that leaves the field ready for Walt vs Hank showdown in the final season.

I see Jesse as Smeagol, he's the wildcard that will be the key in the end but you just don't know how it'll be played out.

    Is that good or bad?
The lack of insults on your part makes me think that it wasn't that bad.
On the other hand, probably it was so bad that you finally run out of insults.

If they really want to do something monumental, they should have Gus (or better yet Jesse) kill Walt. Now THAT would be something.....killing off the main character with a year left in the series.

That would probably ruin the show.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jesse kill Walter during the series' finale though.

Maybe....or it could move it in unpredictable new directions. I think Jesse can be compelling enough to carry the show. I'm not saying it is going to happen, but it would be quite the twist.

Too many characters are tied to Walter White. It would ruin the series to kill him off with an entire fifth season left to go.

As much as I like Jesse Pinkman, the show would move on without him. I want him to be the one that comes out on top, but I will not be surprised at all if he gets killed before the end.

No I meant monumental to be a complete support shift from Walter to Gus in a short period of time.

If Gus kills Walter right now, the audience would enjoy it because we like Gus and dislike Walter at the moment.

If Walter kills Gus the audience would be pissed because Gus is a cool ass gangster mother F-er and Walter is pathetic.

It wasn't too long ago when our views were completely different of the two characters.

Walter kills Ted. Ted finishes the FU to Skyler, She tells Walter, and Walter kills him.

(Why bring the schmuck back, if you're not killing him...unless it's an opportunity to launder more money)

(And surprising no one has brought up Hank)

Ending the show, with essentially the same shot as when Jesse killed Gale.

I think Walt's cancer is back...and in the end, that's what will kill him.

No one's been poisoned by the ricin yet. Do you think Walter will use it on Hank?
