Since 1st qtr last week our D has been lights out. Wilson has improved... our dline looks good. Ceiling is so high on these guys as outside of Thomas and Scott we are a young D
Sorry to derail your thread, but I think the question is , How good can our Offense be? The D has been light out since Rex joined, how long before the O catches up?
I share your optimism. We just need to continue to step up as the caliber of our competition improves.
I still think we are weak over the middle. Top tier opposing TEs can kill us. Once that problem is solved the Jets D has the potential to rival the 2000 Ravens
IF we can run a ball control offense... the sky is the limit with this D. If not... It's not Rex I'm worried about, it Schotty.
I wouldn't get too worked up over beating Luke McCown, but yeah... they definitely looked pretty great today. I like how pretty much every time they had a chance for a pick they capitalized. I was kind of surprised to see MJD break so many nice runs, but he's an elite player. As the season goes along, the D should get better and better.. great test next week for the run defense.
I know this is irelevant but you can always dream (watching dallas at 49ers). Imagine if Ryan/pettine got to dial up plays with Ware in there.
its a huge reason so many of us are dying to see Rex get an elite pass rusher here in NY. If he does, jesus we could be a top 10 all time defense if the backend plays well. Can you imagine if we just substituted Demarcus Ware for Bryan Thomas on this defense? literally the only weakness is covering the TE, but since the QB would only have 2 seconds to throw the ball, we can even do that 80% of the time... that said, we have a chance to be #1 again this year, good, but not all time elite.
I'd like to see how they do against the Pats in a few weeks first before I can comment on how great our defense is this season.
Watching the Pats offense now is a little scary. They look pretty in tune. Best way of beating their offense is by keeping them off the field. Going to really need our offense to click for that game.
We really do need that edge rusher gentlemen. We live and die by the blitz and today, we were playing Luke McCown, not Drew Brees or TB. Good defense today and I'm just a bit salty that they got the 3pts.
We beat Brady this year the same way we confounded and beat him just a few months ago. Like a red headed step child.
While I do believe we can beat them, you are crazy if you think Brady isnt ready for what we threw at him in the playoffs. We are def going to have to do something different.
