This was the type of win we needed - dominate a (vastly) inferior team rather than keeping it close. Sanchez looked great 90% of the time, but those interceptions were pretty boneheaded. He's still struggling a bit with consistency, but I have hope that he can iron out the wrinkles in his game.
Revis is over rated. Cro's not worth his contract. Mark can't complete 60% of his passes. The offense can't score in the first quarter.
Only the Jets can win a game by 4 TDs and still leave you disappointed. They left so many points out there. We should have put up 40 on that team easy Our offense is so pathetic at times. 2 of 11 on 3rd downs against that team? fucking sad. Sanchez needs to get his shit straight already. It's his 3rd year, all these inconsistencies need to go already. The offensive line is horrible at times; especially Hunter I don't mean to be negative about such a blowout win, i'm just getting tired of all these issues on offense Other than that, I loved the way our D played. I was happy to see Cromartie get those 2 picks. Smith was out there making plays all day. I was happy with Mohamed getting the sack + safety. Just all around awesome game by the D
Negatives: Did Plax today? Mason as well? Sanchez made those 2 INT but played well besides that. Sanchez still needs some improvement but def better then his 1st season. @ RT WTF? Hunter played better but still scares me. Hunter was a good backup but as a starter he may not have it. 2 of 11 on 3rd down. 3rd down % has to do better then that. Besides that good ownage and hope we can do the same against the Silver and Black next week.
Hunter is my only real concern. I was a big advocate of him being out RT this year due to his play last season when he took over from Woody. I gave him a semi pass last week because Ware is a beast, but today was inexcusable. Two big penalties (one of Sanchez's pick proceeded it), and got beat a few times by the Jags d-line. I was also concerned about Shonn coming into the game, but I'm starting to think his below avg play is an effect of the o-line rather than him. With that said, the defense was phenomenal today. The d-line looks young and athletic, which is something we couldn't even dream of saying last season. Pace looks POSSESSED. So glad he's healthy.
Were we able to get more int return yards that mcclown had receiver yards? If not it's got to be close.
positives: defense, obviously, was insaine. special teams - coverage, returns, punts, FG were on point. unnoticed in a blowout like this, but they played fantastic. keller was great, sanchez was accurate on shorter throws negatives: 2 of 11 on third downs.... might be higher if we didnt run routes 4 yards short of the sticks in those situations. line play... ugh. running game, double ugh.
I think the reasonably good play by Sanchez today actually got overshadowed by a non-NFL QB and the poor 1st down run attack of jets. I am not even that irritated at the penalties and INT, as that will always happen, but the lack of penetration of the run game on 1st down in the first 2 games is seriously puzzling?
Dude. Seriously? How many times did we run it on third and long in the second half just to milk the clock? 32-3.
